One of the drones hit a residential building in Odesa, destroying 18 apartments. Currently, two deaths have been confirmed, with eight more injured, including a child. My condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the deceased. The search and rescue operation continues around the clock. All services are on-site. People receive all the necessary assistance. I thank everyone involved. We need more air defense capabilities from our partners. Right now, recovery efforts after the Russian strikes continue in Kharkiv and the region, as well as in the Odesa and Dnipro regions. First responders have also been operating in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions. Overall, last night the Russians launched more than 170 drones against Ukraine, at least half of them “shaheds.” And throughout this entire week, the Russians launched nearly 1,000 attack drones, almost 980 guided aerial bombs, and 36 missiles of various types against our people. Every night requires multi-component air defense – air defense systems, combat aviation, mobile fire groups, interceptor drones. We are actively working with partners on each component to reinforce Ukraine’s protection. Ukrainian interceptor drones are now capable of autonomously shooting down Russian Shahed drones. A Brave1 developer has created a technology that automates 95% of the interception process - from launch to target destruction. The system has successfully undergone combat testing in Kharkiv region. The operator monitors targets in real time, selects a target, and authorizes the strike. The system then independently guides the drone to the target, autonomously identifies it, and carries out the interception. "Autonomy is one of the key directions in the development of modern air defense. The Danish model of investing in Ukraine’s own DIB has proven its effectiveness. Joint work on the territory of Denmark, and soon in other key partner countries, is allowing us to scale up even more. This applies to drones and many other types of urgently needed weapons. As per drones, we’ve also reached an agreement with one of the leading American companies to significantly increase our joint efforts. We had an extremely fruitful conversation with the President of the United States yesterday, during which we discussed air defense. I’m grateful for the readiness to assist. Patriot systems are the key to defending against ballistic threats. I also want to praise Sweden, there is a decision on a new defense support package. We are actively working with Germany to speed up decisions on air defense. Latvia has also decided to provide a new defense package – thank you. And I thank everyone standing with Ukraine, and with our people.

Europe must finally equip itself with real strength, real ability to defend its skies, its land, and its sea against any type of attack. In particular, this means building sufficient air defense production capacity — both against drones and against ballistic missiles. The situation in the Middle East shows how difficult it is to provide one hundred percent protection against missiles and “shahed” drones. Even in the Gulf countries, which have more advanced air defense systems than those provided to us so far by our partners and have them in larger quantities, not all ballistic missiles are intercepted. There were also “shaheds” that air defense in the region has not stopped. Everyone can now see that Ukraine’s experience in defense is, in many respects, irreplaceable. We are ready to share this experience and help those nations that helped Ukraine this winter and throughout this war. We are ready to work on developing Europe’s shared defensive capabilities.
