He had traveled such a great distance to meet Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), yet never got the chance to see Him. When the Prophet (PBUH) returned home, He asked Aisha (RA): “Did anyone come here earlier?” Aisha (RA) replied that a man from Yemen named Uwais had come. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) then said to His companions: “There will come to you Uwais ibn ‘Amir with a group from Yemen… He has a mother to whom he is deeply devoted. If you meet him, ask him to seek forgiveness for you.” Just imagine… A man unknown on earth, poor, not famous among people, holding no worldly position, yet honored in the heavens because of his devotion to his mother.
