Dog owners need to be responsible. If not, the law is clear…

take the journey

Back in the 1980’s a group of farmers just outside Dublin set up a task force to protect their sheep as dogs were attacking them at night. I remember 5 or 6 being shot in the first week....attacks soon stopped after that!

you MUST keep your dog on a lead. A farmer is permitted to kill dogs who stress their animals. Don't cry foul when you let your dog stress & chase an animal, and your dog gets shot. What that dog just did was unacceptable... Again tho, like all dog issues, it's the owners.

I have hunting dog's. One is a very big lurcher he once showed an interest in sheep and approximately 5 seconds later he didn't. And because if you can't control your dog then don't let it off the lead. Just because the dog sits and stays doesn't mean he will listen when needed

People need to learn just what a farmer is allowed to do to protect the flock...

It should absolutely be a fine. Enough of a fine that people would know in advance and knock it off. Maybe 24 hours in jail. I don't know why dog owners think that it's OK for their animals to terrorize or injure sheep and lambs.

wouldn't hurt a fly they say, try calling it to heel then, and see if it obeys you

That sheep will be with lamb. Some folk just shouldn’t have dogs. 😡

Trouble is that even on a walk in the park, dogs are loose and out of control! Be the same people letting them off near sheep!
