Nobody called it surveillance. The mainstream take on dynamic pricing is that it's sinister and new. Corporations secretly watching, jacking up prices, exploiting desperation. That anger is mostly right. Dynamic pricing isn't a bug that crept into capitalism. It's the entire architecture of how information asymmetry becomes profit. Airlines have always charged different people different prices for the same seat. Hotels. Insurance companies. Actuarial profiling predates the internet. What changed isn't the behavior. It's the resolution. Your battery at 8% telling Uber you're stranded is a higher-resolution version of the taxi driver who saw you running in the rain and didn't turn the meter off. Prices to go to a movie in America are out of control Just since 2016, national movie prices have increased 60-85%+ on average In 2016 a ticket was $8.65. Today that price is $29.48 for premium formats and $16 for a basic ticket depending on location (I show proof) Some of the theaters like this are very outdated, others are new but the price is the same Just to see Toy Story in IMAX at AMC in California you’re looking at $29.48 per adult ticket and $26.98 for a child ticket A couple could spent $120 bucks just on tickets to take their 2 kids… it’s insane

American took her daughter to urgent care, before going she saw their cash price was $150 At urgent care they took her insurance information and quoted her more, so she asked for the cash price. They denied the cash price because she has insurance and forced her to pay the higher price She says she “pays an arm and a leg” for her insurance every month, and it’s more expensive to use . They don’t even give you the option of the cash price if you have insurance, you just have to pay the higher price This is a scam, Congress MUST do something about this.
