This week I chaired a Research & Technology Subcommittee hearing on strengthening U.S. leadership in robotics and the rise of “physical AI.” Robotics is already transforming industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics, but China and others are investing aggressively while the U.S. still lacks a national strategy. My bipartisan National Commission on Robotics Act will help ensure America stays competitive and turn innovation into real world results for our workforce and economy.

JUST IN: Unitree Robotics just unveiled the GD01, a manned "mecha" robot that transforms between two legs and four legs in real time. This is not a concept. This is a product. Starting price: $574,000. This robot weighs 500kg, is built from high-strength alloy, and has a torso-mounted cockpit. The demo video shows it walking upright, knocking down a brick wall with its hand, then reconfiguring into a four-legged crawl. Unitree calls it the world's first mass-produced transformable mecha. But the real story here is the bigger picture. Chinese companies accounted for nearly 90% of global humanoid robot sales in 2025. Unitree alone shipped 5,500+ humanoid robots last year. In the same period, Tesla, Figure AI and Agility Robotics each shipped around 150. And Unitree is now filing for an IPO on Shanghai's Star Market, targeting 4.2 billion yuan, 85% of which goes straight into R&D. The West is building incredible humanoid robots. 1. This is Elon Musk presenting what the future of cars, referred to as Cybercabs, will look like in less than two years. He presented this at the “We, Robot” event, where he introduced autonomous vehicles and robots. The unfortunate reality is that, on the same day when the world’s richest man, known for his work in technology, was presenting this, Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Europe and the Americas, and President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s advisor, made the most embarrassing, outrageous, and foolish remarks about Elon Musk and his companies. These vehicles, like Tesla’s Model Y and Cybercab, aim to reduce travel costs, maximise vehicle usage, and enhance convenience. Musk compared autonomous transport to past innovations like elevators and said that autonomous cars are becoming safer and more efficient than human driving. Musk envisions cities with fewer parking lots, replaced by parks, thanks to reduced car ownership needs. Autonomous vehicles are expected to roll out fully by 2026. Robovans, designed for high-density travel and goods transport, were also introduced. The event showcased these technologies, promising an exciting future of autonomy and robotics.

But even the Social Security website, this is under the Biden administration, on the website it would say, like, based on current demographic trends and how much money Social Security is bringing in versus how many Social Security recipients there are, because we have an aging population, relatively speaking, the average age is increasing, Social Security will not be able to maintain its full payments, I think by 2032.
