I’m not going come on this and spout misinformation when me and my family is directly affected by this crisis. My mind is in a constant state of panic so if my relatives that are in a parish that we cant even communicate with efficiently call and state what’s going on of course I’m going to relay it on this platform. Sharing some more UI previews for Superlogical, this time the "tab peek." If you three-finger swipe down, you can "peek" at the other session tabs. These are live-updating, metal-rendered previews including splits. If you keep dragging, you enter a "mission control" style mode. This is one of those UI patterns that once you get used to, you mindlessly find yourself doing it ALL THE TIME. It's a great way to quickly take a look at everything thats going on. You aren't reading the mini text of course, but the shape of it tells you a lot about where things are. The peek pushes the terminal down off screen, it doesn't resize it, so it doesn't force any weird reflow or anything either. There's a lot more to talk about, especially about how this interacts with how we expose what needs attention so you can easily find the terminals/sessions/etc. that require your attention. Of course, you'll be able to drive this with the keyboard too. :) As always, a disclaimer: this is all early work subject to change, just trying to share some of what we're building in public. A lot of the UI experiential design is almonk so follow him for more updates too!

While learning Unreal Engine 5, I decided to port over most of Hyperion to it to see if I could potentially move my workflows over to UE5. Although it worked decently well, it didn't work well enough to allow me to change over entirely. Hyperion is simply too complex of an asset for real-time workflows (or at least is limited due to my knowledge of said workflows). 131 4K-8K UDIMs at over 8 channels and a solid amount of shaders with layering being the biggest bottleneck. I couldn't even match the shading setup to what I have in RenderMan, UE gave me a warning that the material was too complex. I was using the new Substrate materials, which mimic RenderMan LAMA shaders. The render below is using the pathtracer. As you can see there are some random flickering parts which I couldn't fix during my tests. This render of course doesn't have any displacement either (which Hyperion heavily relies on). I think Unreal Engine has a very bright future, but it is still limited by todays hardware technology for high end VFX work. Maybe in a few years I will give it another try when hardware improves and the engine becomes a bit more versatile in feature-set.

So, by now I'm sure you saw the AI fanart recreation of the Princess Mononoke trailer. It got a LOT of feedback, mostly from people telling the creator what a terrible thing he did and how AI assisted workflows can never be used for anything good or meaningful and most of all that it can never be used for art. That's such nonsense. Of course it can. If it's wielded by artists and great storytellers, great things will come of it. If you hand a violin to someone on the street they'll be able to make it make sounds.. if you hand it to a talented musician it becomes a conveyer of thoughts, emotion and art. Here's a small scene from Mononoke that I did an AI take on.. it's far from perfect and to animate this properly would require much more work. The AI workflows we have today are lacking so many control elements. But to think those things won't come.. come on. Of course they will. But most importantly, in a way where they don't overtake the art completely, but instead acts like an "amplifier" of the artists using the tools. This technology will be in most of our creative tools in the very near future with full controllability. Oh and I never liked the idea of turning old disney classics into live-action films, or doing the same with the beautiful work of Studio Ghibli. But for the purpose of this post I hope you'll forgive me ;-) #art #animation

Wanna Visit Kashi & Have Darshan of Lord Vishwanath ji? Here are some Tips from Experience. Read fully. Share widely. Har har Mahadev. - If you are in Kashi, you definitely need to stay on the Ghat. I have come multiple times & the goto place for us is Hotel Alka on Meer Ghat. Amazing location (close to temple), rooms are super clean, food is top notch. Try to book the Deluxe or Royal View or Premium View rooms. They range in 4000 to 7000 per night. Since we booked months back, we got the Premium Rooms at great Valuation. You can see the Ganga ji directly. - If you book rooms on the Ghats, you will have to walk the last mile. Autos will come to a certain distance, then you will have to walk the small Gullis (Small streets). The stay is worth the walk. So if you have elders traveling, you need to plan accordingly. - If you want to visit Kashi Vishwanath ji, the best way is to book an aarti ONLINE. This is the only way you can get into the main Mandir without huge queues. Very affordable darshans, worth it. Login to We booked 3 AM mangla aarti and evening 7 PM sapt Rishi aarti. Avoid agents. They will take much more than online prices, so be aware. - Pls note that crowd management inside Kashi Vishwanath Mandir is really bad. I hope Modi ji does something about it. I saw lots of elders who came all the way, but they get squeezed inside the mandir. Anyway, that's part of the deal 😀😀 - If you take the darshan ticket it will be worth. You can only carry tickets and id card while entering. Best to leave your chappals and electronics in the room. Yes, only carry the bhakti here with you. And maybe some cash. - Now there are locker systems inside the temple complex, which you can use for free. Kashi is full of pujaris who want to make a quick buck (unlike many other places). So try not to talk to anyone, be confident & use the free facilities. - In Kashi, it's very easy to get misguided by shop owners. So only and only ask your questions to the police officers. Kashi temple is full of them 👍 - Now, the best part. Ganga ji. Do not miss taking bath in her. Take her blessings. Always cross the river and take a bath. You can negotiate and pay ₹50 per passenger to move to the other side and enjoy your bath. If you can swim, then you can go deep as well. I enjoyed the swim like anything, went 50 metres across the river. - The best places to eat are near the Manikarnika Ghat, Main Corridor & the Godowalia Chauraha. Tons of chats, kulfis and jalebis to eat. Don't miss the Tamatar Chaat, Aloo Tikkis, Chura Mutter & Banarasi Pan. Kashi Chaat Bhandar is amazing. - The Annapurna Devi annadanam (bhojan) is very famous. They serve lunch bhiksha and dinner bhiksha to thousands everyday. Wonderful hot hot food. You can have there itself. Please do contribute back generously to the annapoorani temple trust so that this tradition continues. - You can visit all the ancient temples in Kashi, Kalabhairava being one of the best. The Banarasi Sarees are amazing. Try to ask the boatmen to take you to the weavers home directly and buy. Wanna Visit Kashi & Have Darshan of Lord Vishwanath ji? Here are some Tips from Experience. Read fully. Share widely. Har har Mahadev. - If you are in Kashi, you definitely need to stay on the Ghat. I have come multiple times & the goto place for us is Hotel Alka on Meer Ghat. Amazing location (close to temple), rooms are super clean, food is top notch. Try to book the Deluxe or Royal View or Premium View rooms. They range in 4000 to 7000 per night. Since we booked months back, we got the Premium Rooms at great Valuation. You can see the Ganga ji directly. - If you book rooms on the Ghats, you will have to walk the last mile. Autos will come to a certain distance, then you will have to walk the small Gullis (Small streets). The stay is worth the walk. So if you have elders traveling, you need to plan accordingly. - If you want to visit Kashi Vishwanath ji, the best way is to book an aarti ONLINE. This is the only way you can get into the main Mandir without huge queues. Very affordable darshans, worth it. Login to We booked 3 AM mangla aarti and evening 7 PM sapt Rishi aarti. Avoid agents. They will take much more than online prices, so be aware. - Pls note that crowd management inside Kashi Vishwanath Mandir is really bad. I hope Modi ji does something about it. I saw lots of elders who came all the way, but they get squeezed inside the mandir. Anyway, that's part of the deal 😀😀 - If you take the darshan ticket it will be worth. You can only carry tickets and id card while entering. Best to leave your chappals and electronics in the room. Yes, only carry the bhakti here with you. And maybe some cash. - Now there are locker systems inside the temple complex, which you can use for free. Kashi is full of pujaris who want to make a quick buck (unlike many other places). So try not to talk to anyone, be confident & use the free facilities. - In Kashi, it's very easy to get misguided by shop owners. So only and only ask your questions to the police officers. Kashi temple is full of them 👍 - Now, the best part. Ganga ji. Do not miss taking bath in her. Take her blessings. Always cross the river and take a bath. You can negotiate and pay ₹50 per passenger to move to the other side and enjoy your bath. If you can swim, then you can go deep as well. I enjoyed the swim like anything, went 50 metres across the river. - The best places to eat are near the Manikarnika Ghat, Main Corridor & the Godowalia Chauraha. Tons of chats, kulfis and jalebis to eat. Don't miss the Tamatar Chaat, Aloo Tikkis, Chura Mutter & Banarasi Pan. Kashi Chaat Bhandar is amazing. - The Annapurna Devi annadanam (bhojan) is very famous. They serve lunch bhiksha and dinner bhiksha to thousands everyday. Wonderful hot hot food. You can have there itself. Please do contribute back generously to the annapoorani temple trust so that this tradition continues. - You can visit all the ancient temples in Kashi, Kalabhairava being one of the best. The Banarasi Sarees are amazing. Try to ask the boatmen to take you to the weavers home directly and buy. The idea that changing the date will lead us to any more ‘unity’ is hilarious. They spent Australia Day saying ‘abolish Australia’ and the days before it destroying ANZAC monuments and burning the flag. This guy’s petulance against his fellow Whites for not agreeing with him shows he’s absolutely out of the loop on what animates either side of the debate. The ‘indigenous’ side of the debate is not principally concerned with the date but rather Australia’s existence. Whatever unity you think there is to be had if we just change this date exists only in imagination. I don’t care if you can find like 1 Indigenous person in a comment section saying they support Australia Day and strong borders or whatever, the exception proves the rule; take a gander at any of their peak representation, and all you will find is rabid anti-Whitism. That’s what matters, not the single individual who has zero authority. Remember the voice, see the state treaties, see the land grants - they are literally stealing the country from you and you just disarm your own side talking about ‘unity’. Yeah calling for unity feels good, wanting everyone to chillax and it all be kumbaya is a comfortable position but it's the position that enables all sorts of evils to be continuously committed against us. Stop being defensive and start being offensive before there is no country left to defend.
