I heard a lot of things like, “It’s hard to succeed as a soloist”, or “You only did well because you were in a group”. Hearing that so often really affected my self-esteem, and I think I had a strong desire to prove myself to those people. But now, I try to see those perspectives as a form of interest and accept them with gratitude. By taking in different kinds of feedback, I feel like my mindset has shifted to enjoying the process itself. I think I’m able to work with less stress and more happiness now. These days, the K-pop industry is changing very quickly, and so are the systems within entertainment companies. When I was promoting with LOONA, it felt like our role was mainly to carry out concepts that the company had already decided for us. But now, it feels like artists are much more involved and have an environment where they can actively participate and create something more creatively. When I first finished working on the song ‘NAIL’, I had already recorded the full version myself. It sounded good, but I kept thinking that if I collaborated with another artist and created synergy, the song could become even richer. The company agreed with that idea, so we started thinking about who would be a good fit to collaborate with. Around that time, we actually received a collaboration e-mail from Lolo Zouaï first. I listened to the demo she sent, and there were so many unexpected melodies that we hadn’t even imagined. In the end, we scrapped our original second verse and fully incorporated Lolo Zouaï’s demo into the track, creating the song together. Through that process, seeing how she came up with melodies we hadn’t thought of made me realize, ‘Oh, you can approach top lines like this’, and ‘You can play with rhythm in this way too’. I was able to learn a lot, and I’m really grateful for that experience”

Important announcement!!!🫵💥💫 Would you have a tooth pulled if it helped your chances to get an important grant funded? Absurd question (obviously), but the situation right now is so bad funding-wise, that I bet some of you actually considered it for a second… Well, don’t get desperate - we created a new tool that might help! (keep your teeth!) I’m excited to announce that as of today we are officially releasing “QED for Grants” for everyone. What started off as an extension of our existing paper review platform, grew in the last few months to an entirely new design. We’ve been working like crazy on this, and although we have more things we want to add in the (very near) future, we decided to release our AI for grants NOW, earlier than planned. It’s not perfect, no AI is, but for the first time, when I run my own grants through QED Science, I feel it gets the research, finds real problems, and gives me very useful feedback that I can implement before submission. It’s like sending it to 20 scientists from my domain, knowing they’ll agree to dedicate their entire week to carefully read and comment on every line. It’s very important to write your own grants yourself, it makes you think hard and you learn a lot from doing it, and q.e.d’s system is designed to preserve these positive aspects and augment them - you get feedback on your own writing, we don’t write for you!! These cops need to get their license suspended... Remember that police SUV that crashed through the steel gate at 42 Division in Toronto? It just got a whole lot more expensive for taxpayers… We have an update to that story we aired earlier this year that we called “Gategate”. It took place at Toronto Police 42 Division in east end Toronto. And it involved a police SUV smashing through a steel gate. It wasn’t pretty. Ok, accidents happen. But there are two kinds of accidents. Those that are entirely preventable and those that aren’t. Which is to say it’s one thing to unexpectedly hit a patch of black ice and endure that stomach-churning experience of your car turning into the Tilt-A-Whirl ride down at the midway. But it’s quite another thing to hit a steel gate as you slowly enter a parking lot – and continue to plow right through that aforementioned gate. And how did this even happen? Did the officer experience a medical incident? Was the officer impaired? Or, most likely, was the officer distracted by the in-dash computer and/or cellphone? So, what’s the scandalous part, you ask? Well, you’re never going to believe this, folks, but the police tried to cover up this mishap. But why? The police are publicly funded. Taxpayers have skin in the game. Of note, the Toronto Police Service is embroiled in so many scandals of late – too numerous to list in this space, alas. But the standard mea culpa response from the brass is a promise to be more transparent and more accountable in the future. Yet the precise opposite is true. At the first whiff of a scandal, they circle the wagons. They deploy the cone of silence. And the only way we hear about new scandalous shenanigans is thanks to insider whistleblowers reaching out to us. Such was the case with the 42 Division incident. Indeed, our sources told us the replacement cost of that gate was in the neighbourhood of $25,000. And get this: in our original report, we outsmarted ourselves. We remarked that now we know the reason for those bash bars affixed to the front end of police cruisers. After all, even a full-size SUV can experience damage by ramrodding the vehicle through a steel gate. But the thing is, we misspoke. Those bash bars did NOT protect the SUV. Because our sources tell us that since the Explorer experienced A-pillar damage, it was deemed to be a write-off. Something else to put on the taxpayer tab, we suppose… Oh, and we have more information. We allegedly have the name of the police officer who was behind the wheel when this incident occurred. That would be Plainclothes Police Constable Melissa Hasiuk. (Of note: if you’re serving as a plainclothes officer, isn’t your cover blown by driving a fully marked police cruiser? We can only think of the SCTV character, RCMP Plainclothes Officer Curtis Edgit, who had little success in blending in with the populace as he was always on horseback…) In any event, we again reached out to 42 Division to get Hasiuk’s side of the story. As previously noted, the cops say they are going to be more accountable and more transparent. But one of the officers on the desk claimed he was unaware of the gate issue. Which is a brazen lie, of course. Speaking of accountability, there’s another angle to this story: namely, if somebody who wasn’t a police officer crashed through a steel gate, that person would be charged with careless driving or even dangerous driving. That person would be fined. That person would receive demerit points. That person’s auto insurance premiums would spike. But when it comes to Hasiuk, it’s apparently no harm, no foul. And, of course, she’s not on the hook for that $25,000 gate nor that fractured Ford. Of note, a base model Explorer starts at $54,895 – and that’s without the police package. It should also be noted that Constable Hasiuk earned $171,335 plus benefits last year. That was a 16.9% increase over her 2024 salary. Bottom line: must be so sweet being part of that exclusive club wherein it’s one law for me, and one law for thee…

[WATCH] MIGRATION, COMMUNITY TENSIONS AND THE THREATS AROUND 30 JUNE Nowhere is the first promise of the Freedom Charter — that South Africa belongs to all who live in it more sorely tested today than on the question of migration. We speak with compassion and with firmness, and above all in defence of the rule of law and the unity of our nation. Let us first place the facts before the public, because they are too often drowned out by noise and by those who profit from fear. Government is acting, and it is acting at scale. The Department of Home Affairs reports more than 110,000 deportations in the year to date, and the cancellation of some 2,000 fraudulently obtained study visas. Our police service and the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Migration report more than 40,000 arrests of undocumented persons this year, over 7,400 of them in the past month alone, and 143 persons arrested for inciting violence against foreign nationals. This is a State enforcing its laws, firmly and without apology. The repatriation of those with no lawful right to remain is being conducted in an orderly and humane manner. In KwaZulu-Natal, by the evening of the 20th of June, 4,907 Malawian nationals had been safely returned home from a single gathering point with women and children moved first. Hundreds more have been returned through the Mwanza border, and 980 of our neighbours were repatriated with dignity in a single convoy on the 11th of June. South Africa does not operate refugee camps, and we have no intention of creating them but nor will we abandon the principle that even those we return home are returned in safety and with their dignity intact. Our borders, too, are being made secure. The Border Management Authority is driving a R12.5 billion overhaul of six of our major ports of entry, deploying drones, modern surveillance and 5,500 additional officers along the borderline. The result is a hardening of our frontier and a sharp reduction in unlawful crossings: thousands attempting to cross illegally have been intercepted and turned back, smuggling syndicates have been disrupted, and the authority of the State has been restored mile by mile along our boundaries. We commend the BMA, the JCPS led by Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi for this work. The enforcement of immigration law is the work of the democratic State, and of the State alone. Having placed the facts before you, let us now speak plainly and politically because what is unfolding on some of our streets is not, at its heart, about immigration at all. We have seen this architecture before. In July 2021 our country was dragged to the very edge of the abyss by a co-ordinated assault dressed up as a grievance an organised attempt to render the country ungovernable and to challenge the authority of the democratic State itself. What we are witnessing now carries the same fingerprints. Unlawful immigration is being manipulated by new political formations a convenient cover by political formations whose real purpose is to manufacture chaos, to collapse the institutions of the State, and to engineer fear and unfair conditions on the very eve of our local government elections. There are formations in our politics that have embraced an open ethno-nationalism, and that have sought hijack the proud heritage of the amabutho and the sacred symbols of our people’s history, bending them to a reckless and destructive agenda. Let us be unequivocal: the amabutho are heritage institutions that we hold in the deepest admiration and respect they are the pride of our nation’s history, and they must never be abused or hijacked as a cover for nefarious and criminal acts. Has been a while since I've given an update so here's a breakdown of where Sappy is at right now and what we're focusing on going into this year. Pre-amble: With altcoins & NFTs the market is definitely not the same as it was before. I think this is obvious to everyone but I've noticed there are still japanese soldiers that are convinced old tricks and mechanics work. They don't. Liquidity is thin; people want to bid assets that feel like "real companies" not vacuous memecoins. There's still room for memecoins, social currencies, and "utility tokens" (I would say without these functions, tokens are hard to justify versus equities). I'm not part of the camp that thinks there will never be hyperspeculation in crypto again, because there will be; we all love ponzis and PvPing each other onchain. Just not with solved games -- people need something new and fresh. So the overarching plan is to continue building for users, sustainable revenues that aren't tied to directly to crypto, and doubling down on the areas that we've already found PMF / Brand Market Fit. Then leaning into crypto during cyclical periods where liquidity is sloshing around at an accelerated rate. Where we've found early PMF / what we're leaning into: Roblox: we're going to continue to go hard and accelerate here. It's our main objective to ship more seal/brainrot focused games across most genres to cast as wide of a net as we can for the brand, and to also iterate and see what works and stays sticky. Our initial incursion into Roblox was very successful peaking at 2M+ MAU and still sustaining a large portion of that player base... for all of its success, that was a relatively amateur first attempt; we've been setting up better AI pipelines for Roblox development that makes it reasonable to ship many more games and 10x those player counts in totality. It's my belief that Roblox is the sandbox whose audience will be the most valuable on the internet once they are grown up. That intense feeling you get when you see a TikTok referencing an old game you enjoyed on the PS2 or the Gamecube, or when you see a Pokemon card is the exact same feeling the youth of today will get when reminiscing on the things they enjoyed engaging with when they were younger. Fortnite and Roblox are functional equivalents to the old school consoles and exactly where that is taking place. Which is why as much as I care about scaling revenues through Roblox, the long term brand equity gained purely through being popular on the platform is totally invaluable. It also can heavily convert to merchandise sales today if all touchpoints for the brand are dialed in (which is why brands get overcharged so much by Roblox dev shops for the same ROI that only cost us a few thousand $). We have the playbook, it's just about iterating new concepts and then aggressively scaling. Brand Expansion & Merchandising: I've started to create a content pipeline that is easily repeatable, cost efficient (costs next to nothing through either AI or smart reusable concepts), while still being very tasteful and meeting our quality standards for the brand. We are mostly focusing here on reaching people where they're at through nostalgic/emotional content, or just being visually stimulating through carefully curated aesthetics. Content that isn't superficial and touches people in a memorable way. I've attached some examples to the post so you can see what I mean rather than just read it. I don't think it's long until larger brands start doing this at scale, but it's always good to be ahead of the curve and most importantly winning on taste -- knowing what will resonate with people and what won't has always been our edge. The purpose for these accounts is not only to rack up attention but also to begin converting those into sales of both of physicals (plushies & gacha collectibles) and digital avenues like our games, and any other apps we produce. Because they're offshoot accounts it's also a lot easier to be aggressive/experimental with said conversion strategies. Sappy Studio: I'm wrapping everything like Omnia, and everything else into this category because they're all tangentially related. Beginning with Omnia, our current focus is gearing up for Season 0 which involves players competing in the ranked ladder for a prize pool that has rewards through Monad Momentum as well as a player-funded prize pool. This season will be fairly simple with us mostly logging retention, deck building habits, as well as qualitatively observing how aggressively players push the combat system. Deeper monetization wont exist yet outside of the player buy-in (to be eligible for P2E rewards). Beyond that our overarching principle this year is to focus heavily on risk-to-earn mechanics where a portion of that excess value is circular i.e. revenues flow back to prize pools or other parts of the economy, treating the game almost like a protocol where the objective is to amass TVL or player liquidity. Social is also a big focus, and that means implementing the Open World hub which from an infrastructure perspective has already been built out and tested by all of you previously. Right now we are scaffolding the environment in 3D and working through how that hub should look and feel, so players are excited to hang out & idle together while they're queuing. For sappydotlol, what I'm about to say is still early days from a design perspective so a lot can change, but I'm pushing the site in the direction of being a virtual game console. An intersection between Nintendo & Myspace where users can play, trade, and socially interact in a way that's deeply personalised; a breathe of fresh air from the hostility of the current internet. If you go back to my thesis on Roblox above and the game console references, you can kind of see how this will all sequentially tie together. In essence, the strategy is to acquire a critical mass of players through traditional platforms like Roblox, and use that attention and trust to provide an onboarding funnel for web2 users into our own sandbox filled with a mixture of our own browser-based experiences as well as an aggregation of others. The aim is to make the platform a breath of fresh air & bunker from the enshittified platforms like TikTok/IG/X where users are actually served in ways that delight rather than agitate, and where self-expression is incentivised. Closing: As always everything here is subject to change but I've never felt more conviction in our direction until now; I know exactly what we need to do and how, with everything aligning with our team's strengths. Very excited and grinding through things to the point where I'm getting headaches and can't sleep from being hyperfocused for long periods of time lol.
