Never got the "doom 3 shotgun is weak" unless your using it like a doom 1 and 2 shotgun thats almost a sniper xd

factually, the doom 3 shotgun has great damage, even more so than the classic shotgun. it also happens to have the most widest bullet spread 😂 the PDA even specifies this, but for me I honestly think they went to far with the spread, it could have been 15 instead of 22

No no, they are right. This is the weakest shotgun in gaming 💀 It's smh even weaker than in Cod and Battlefield games that severely downgrade it cause real shotguns just shred anything in close, medium and even a lil bit long ranges.

I wouldnt call it weak, believe it or not it has very good damage even greater than its previous counterpart. Ive seen the stats in its def file. it just happens to have the most egregiously wide bullet spread

guarantee it isn't modded (centered weapon mode aside), look at the bullet impact at the bottom right when I killed campbell , thats its glorious wide bullet spread showing

This is a disingenuous argument as the footage you are using is heavily modded. Monsters do not gore like that in the base game, among other things. If you're going to defend something, use actual facts.

mods are centered weapons mod by arl and realgibs here's another demonstration where I changed the values from 22 to 23 in addition of removing the said mods. still works, still hits, nothing changed.

I LOVE the doom 3 shotgun, sure the spread is ass compared to the previous doom games, but having to get close to the demon and blowing them up feels SO good. Besides the game is very claustrophobic most of the time, the old spread would completly break the game.

i love doom 3 to bits and pieces but there have been many times through different play throughs where i do the little song and dance of getting all up in a monsters face and shoot and it just tickles them

I think the reason the doom 3 shotgun is so hated is because you have to be balls deep in an enemy to kill them quick and if it isn’t hitting center mass or the head you’re gonna be damaged by enemy melees that shake the screen like the earth is imploding

Honestly the amount of people who complained about the doom 3 shotgun is quite ridiculous. You dont need to approach enemies let them come to you, find some cover and blast with the shotgun. Enemies stack in single file and uses the conga line mentality like classic doom

On one hand, I want to diss the Doom 3 shotgun here as you practically have to use it as a melee weapon... but at the same time, I'll always like how Doom 3's enemies utterly melt on the other end of this thing when you *do* stick it in their face.

The only gripe I have with it is how weak it sounds compared to the racking which is at least 20 decibels louder than the boom

even then the downside of the 22° spread gets easily mitigated because most of the game is in close quarters, and it can kill most enemies with the least ammo cost, at most 3 shells per demon if you're unlucky even on Veteran difficulty.

This is what the Doom 3 shotgun feels when you tighten the spread to the same values as the shotgun zombie. It's a total beast. Next time I play through I'll probably keep the spread but lower the damage to actually make the game a challenge

i always joke that its the "greatest melee weapon ever made", but everytime i play doom 3 this gun has saved me from very close calls and encounters consistently. atleast until RoE gives you the super shotty and then you never use it again in that.
