Unnecessarily chilling

No. Very necessarily frightening. We children in the 60s and 70s played outside without any supervision all day throughout school holidays and weekends. No CCTV. Building sites, canals, railway lines even, were unfenced. Some kids were daft or unlucky. These were needed.

1970s PIF did their job. Dangers of swimming, quarries, electricity, crossing the road, stranger danger, etc. Should bring updated versions back today.

The power station one was terrifying. I was scared to walk past the local one.

Unnecessary? 50 years on message still hasn't er sunk in.

This ad would come with a 'sensitive' warning if it were shown now 🤣

Got the message across though. Snowflakes of today would cry their eyes out at this, would start a petition, complain to Ofcom, start a focus group, sue someone and get banners flying from gantries over motorways.

I know the whole script of this off by heart, stuck in my brain forever. I was very young when it came out, and when she said ‘Out pops my fairy godmother, with her *I’ll give you 3 wishes* routine’ I thought Routine was her name

These scarred me for life, apparently everything was out to kill me, even the fridge 😱

As a child that gave me nightmares! It's unbelievable how scary it is 😱😱

Hear are ones I remember: The child falling out of the bedroom window Two kids playing under the sink and the boy drinks turps. The frisbee in the pylon... Oh, and all the AIDS ones in the 80s. Smoking ones too...
