Early this morning troops placed the jerrycans near the hospital, as had been coordinated in advance with officials at Shifa. It says that later "the IDF received evidence that Hamas officials prevented the hospital from receiving the fuel." The military publishes a call between an IDF officer and a senior Gazan health official, who says that Yousef Abu-Al Rish, the deputy health minister in Gaza, forbade the hospital from receiving the fuel.

With an active Ebola outbreak now in Uganda with confirmed cases in Kampala and Wakiso linked to the DRC situation, our leaders must set the highest example in caution and vigilance. It is disappointing to see former Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero hugging John Patrick Amama Mbabazi at a time when the public is being urged to limit close contact and observe safety protocols. Public officials should be exemplary, not just in words but in actions.
