Very eye opening to learn how Masinga Dam was built and acts as a reservoir. I concur, with the spillage, a lot has to be managed with the surrounding community .

I have come personally to make sure that the issue is fixed and that chance takers do not distort this and use it as a political scoring point. We must address the issues affecting our municipalities and as the Secretary General I have committed myself to be on the frontlines in addressing issues. I have been just informed by the District Administration in Lakhimpur that due to rising water and strong currents of the Brahmaputra in Lakhimpur, an embankment stretch of around 120mts in Bonpuroi Jamuguri under Jamuguri Gaon Panchayat is under severe stress. Officials of Water Resources Dept and the Dist Administration have swiftly swung into action to add additional layer of defences there and fortify the embankment through launching of geo-bags and porcupines. This embankment is also part of a comprehensive ₹29.08cr ADB assisted anti-erosion project. I am closely monitoring the situation and have asked officials to update me on a regular basis on the evolving situation. I have been just informed by the District Administration in Lakhimpur that due to rising water and strong currents of the Brahmaputra in Lakhimpur, an embankment stretch of around 120mts in Bonpuroi Jamuguri under Jamuguri Gaon Panchayat is under severe stress. Officials of Water Resources Dept and the Dist Administration have swiftly swung into action to add additional layer of defences there and fortify the embankment through launching of geo-bags and porcupines. This embankment is also part of a comprehensive ₹29.08cr ADB assisted anti-erosion project. I am closely monitoring the situation and have asked officials to update me on a regular basis on the evolving situation. I request people living in Dhalpur-Hawajan and nearby areas in Bihpuria LAC and Gohpur LAC to remain vigilant and follow the latest instructions issued by District Administration. 📍 District Administration @Lakhimpur Assam
