There is a major concern about Data Centers that are using closed loop cooling systems that’s not being talked about There are a lot of chemicals being put into the water used in these systems. That water has to be flushed out every couple years Whistleblowers say that chemical water is being pushed into our streams and waterways and may have extremely limited cleaning requirements depending on state “I'm getting whistleblowers on the inside saying that they're taking all that waste and they're just running it down into the sewers. They're wanting to go to more closed cooling systems, and in those closed cooling systems, you still are gonna be using chemicals. There's no regulations about every 2 years when you have to clean out a cooling closed system, where are you gonna throw all of those chemicals?” “Taking polluted water and running it through system and dumping it into a river and it flows downstream, that will have a natural dilution, would resolve the issue, and it's not. Even if it's a closed cooling system, that water that's recycling in there, eventually they have to clean those systems. They have to release that water. More specifically, the EPA said that some of the PFOS drinking rules were made without allowing the public to comment on and participate in the rulemaking process.” “The EPA's reasoning here is extremely inconsistent because the EPA recently rescinded their pesticide application record keeping rule without following the rulemaking process where the public can make comments. It just took one bad rainy season for Bengaluru to face a massive water shortage crisis. Given that extreme weather conditions will only become more common, this probably won't be the last time we face this crisis. I learned recently that wastewater could be part of the solution. Bengaluru's total freshwater demand is ~2632 (million litres a day) MLD, and it generates ~2000 MLD of wastewater. Of this, centralized sewage treatment plants treat ~1,300 MLD, and this water is used for agricultural purposes. About 3,500 apartments and commercial establishments have decentralized sewage treatment plants (STPs) and waste ~80% of their excess STP water. This STP water is low quality and mostly unusable beyond flushing and gardening. If this excess STP water can be converted to high-quality water, about 450–500 MLD of water demand could be met by decentralized treatment plans. Boson White Water is one startup we met that is trying to solve the problem of converting STP water to potable water.

Yet just 2 weeks ago Defra's leading civil servant told MPs "That is a simplification process. We are looking to bring the two main underlying bits of environmental law the water framework directive and the waste water directive together in a consolidated form. Again, that is an opportunity to simplify and streamline." The Water Framework Directive set a target that by 2027 every river in England would be in "Good" ecological condition. Govt is going to miss that one by a country mile, in reality it's looking like a jaw droppingly pathetic 6% of rivers will achieve that goal. The Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive is what makes it illegal to dumping sewage outside of "exceptional situations." Both are about to be "streamlined", you have been warned.

There is a large water pipe in Northwest Peoria, Arizona If you follow the pipe, eventually you’ll see it’s just dumping massive amounts of water into the Arizona desert Arizona is in a severe drought and water shortage. 97% of Arizona is in drought and in a Tier 1 water shortage. This is a great example of how very different birds are. The Osprey comes gliding in and crashes into the water somewhat violently, and then sinks its talons into its prey, rips it from the water, and carries it off on its final journey. The Great Egret on the other hand is all about patiently waiting for the perfect moment to pluck a fish from the water. Even with the Osprey crashing into the water right next to it, the egret doesn’t even budge or blink. What a contrasting comparison!

A new public fountain has appeared in central London, but look closer & you’ll see that it’s a actually a fountain of filth. The water is black, the human victims of the sewage crisis are vomitting streams of liquid, whilst surmounted by a smug water executive with a briefcase stuffed with cash. The fountain commemorates one of the biggest environmental crimes in British history, where water companies stole tens of billions of pounds that was supposed to be spent on our sewage system, gave it to shareholders and executives and illegally poured billions of lites of sewage into our rivers, lakes and seas instead. The channel 4 docudrama about the sewage crisis, #dirtybusiness, starts at 9pm tonight. Watch it, get sad, get angry and then join the thousands of people around the country demanding an end to the sewage crisis.
