New mural of Iryna Zarutska is now starting to go up in Providence, Rhode Island! Artist Ian Gaudreau had been working on a previous mural of Iryna at the LGBTQ bar The Dark Lady. But after condemnation by Mayor Brett Smiley and other protesters, the club announced it would cancel the mural project. Now the restaurant “Opa” on Federal Hill is allowing the mural of the slain Ukrainian to be painted on their building. Statement from the owner of Opa, Francois Karam, on the new mural of Iryna: “She was once an immigrant chasing the American dream. She worked to build a life for herself and lost it along the way. This mural is our way of honoring her on a building owned by an immigrant family who understands that journey.” This is great news! "The one thing that's going to be truly future proof is judgment. What is the biggest challenge when you have a thousand AI engineers writing code? AI slop. In an era when you can do everything, the question is which of these things matter. On the engineer side, it is evaluating the code. Which of this code is even valuable? You can have AI engineers writing beautiful code that could be wrong, that could have bugs in it, that could be vulnerable. Someone needs to review it. Make sure to have a human review at some point, especially critical code that is in the core of your system. On the product side is judgment around what needs to be built and evaluating. And similarly in design, you have to have judgment around, does it make sense in the broader design system. I think this judgment is the number one thing that humans are going to bring in an era of infinite productivity."

On Tuesday 4 August Our Fight campaigners and local allies gathered in Shoreditch, in front of a mural of Boy George, recently painted to thank him for his solidarity with Jews. The mural had already been defaced with swear words, as well as "Zionist" and "baby killer supporter". And just a few hours after our shoot the mural was entirely defaced, with a red triangle—the symbol used by Hamas in its social media videos. to point out targets it is attacking. The artist has chosen not to repair the mural; its story is a reflection of the growth in anti-Semitism and anti-Israel hysteria that is characterising our era. To resist this wave of bigotry we need to be visible in our solidarity with Jews and Israel. Which is why we came out to support the stand that Boy George has taken. He is an incredible #MENSCH. This is huge for production applications! Literally every developer has to deal with server errors they can't reproduce, and it doesn't matter how many logs they have. You don't have to be "every developer" anymore. Look into Hud's Runtime Code Sensor. Hud is one of my collaborators, and their code sensor is a game-changer for production applications. Watch the video I'm attaching here. For those of you who'd prefer a TL;DR; Hud captures how code behaves in production and puts those insights in context right in your IDE. This is really cool! You can see on top of every function data about how it works in production: • How long does it take to run? • How many times has the function failed? • Are the number of failures going up or down? All of this information is accessible to Cursor, Copilot, or WindSurf via an MCP server. That means that you can use the IDE to act on these issues! The way Hud works: • They provide a lightweight SDK • It takes one line to configure • All insights are right in your code • No dashboard necessary The best part: Their free plan includes ALL features they offer, so you can actually try it out properly and see how it fits your workflow. Show me your papers! This is what Garlic Girl has to go through every time she wants to come in and out of her property. This is dystopian on its face but it is actually one of the more calm and cordial checkpoint experiences she has had, much of that due to the officer with the long hair who has taken time to talk to her and has developed a working relationship with her. Almost all of the other experiences going through this checkpoint have been far worse, I will be sharing those next.

This guy charges money to paint murals on fences and buildings. Now when I first saw this, I was kind of on the fence about it… But now I love this. You don't have to be an artist. You just need to know how to trace the lines, like we did in elementary school. You can charge anywhere from $1,000 (50 sq. ft. mural) to $10,000 (200 sq. ft. mural) And the more wealthy the buyer, the more you can charge. Retail shops, restaurants, advertisers, they're all paying way too much money for mural artists today. Why don't they just pay you with a $500 set of goggles?
