So he had 70 shillings to run the government, do development, and pay salaries. Kibaki, by the time he handed over to Uhuru, of his 1 trillion and 2 trillion of debt, 18 shillings was going to debt payment. He had 72 shillings that was actively running government operations, which is why people say Kibaki’s budget was debt-free. When Uhuru handed over to Ruto, 65 shillings was going to debt payments. The government started borrowing for recurrent expenditure, no more for development and that is illegal in our laws. Now, where we are this year, 92 shillings of every 100 is going to the payment of debt. We are dying #CitizenSundayLive

Jimi Wanjigi: We should not pay our debt; it is not only logical, but it is the only way we don’t die. We are dying as a complete nation. When we say odious, it is illegal debt that is costing us. This year alone, it is going to be 91 percent of the taxes that we contribute to the government. This year alone, for every Kenyan, it is 40,000 shillings they are paying. For every working Kenyan, it is 120,000 shillings, 10,000 shillings a month, you are paying to something that you did not approve.
