Israel has extended the detention of two activists who were arrested on board a flotilla bound for Gaza, where they intended to deliver humanitarian assistance. Saif Abu Keshek, a Spanish national, and Brazilian, Thiago Avila, were taken to Israel while more than 100 other pro-Palestinian activists on the boats were taken to the Greek island of Crete. The Israeli navy intercepted their flotilla in international waters last week and a court ruled for the pair to be held for at least six more days.

The group has been on remand since August 1, 2025. Magistrate Sylvia Muwonge has sent them back to Luzira Prison, with sentencing set for April 17.
