NEW: Four Florida teens arrested after firearms found on campus following fight On April 17, 2026, at 1:40 p.m., Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested four Plant City High School students at Plant City High School after two firearms were discovered on campus. The incident began with a physical altercation among students. Two 14-year-olds, Pedro Pascual-Perez and Pedro Perez-Jimenez, gave their backpacks containing the guns to 15-year-old Francisco Ramos-Pedro and 14-year-old Charlin Silvan-Carmen to hide. One of the firearms was loaded. All four face charges including Possession of a Firearm on School Property and Minor in Possession of a Firearm. Two also face Tampering with Physical Evidence and Disrupting a School Campus.

CLASH ON CAMPUS: A conservative group hosting a Charlie Kirk–style debate table at Tennessee State University had their sign ripped down before students chased them off campus. TSU later issued this statement: "Today, a group of individuals unaffiliated with Tennessee State University appeared on campus without prior notice. In accordance with university policy, any demonstration or protest activity requires advance approval and permitting. Campus police and staff responded promptly, and the individuals were escorted from university grounds without incident. At all times, TSU students conducted themselves in a professional and respectful manner. The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority. UNC SJP said, "In an attempt avoid their tents from being seized, students put their tents on chairs as to “comply” with administration. When police and UNC facility crew came to forcibly remove the tents, protestors collectively lifted up their tents and marched around the quad."
