We have had close cooperation in the past which continues still, and that includes military cooperation as well. I'm not going into any details of that." We didn't start this war. It was an unprovoked, unwarranted, illegal act of aggression and we will continue to defend ourselves for as long as it takes, in order to end this war in a way that it will not be repeated in the future."

I assume that Russia's war in Ukraine and EU security will also be discussed. It is telling that the visit will take place before the meeting between President Trump and President Xi, and that it is being organized at the invitation of the Chinese side. The results may serve as a clear demonstration of the dynamics of the "autonomization of European policy" - the process where EU member states act not only in the wake of the US's policy. "We hope that China can convince Russia to put an end to the war and to engage in negotiations that respect Ukraine's fundamental rights and allow us to achieve peace and security on the European continent," a source of the South China Morning Post newspaper said. Many experts have long said that peace in Russia's war against Ukraine (the West) cannot be achieved without Beijing's support. Europe is also reacting to the fact that active Russian-American negotiations are taking place without the EU's participation. If large-scale concessions are made to the Kremlin, this could undermine the interests of both the EU and China.
