U.S Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a close call between two aircraft at Boston Logan International Airport on Saturday. The FAA said the crew of Delta Air Lines Flight 2351, Airbus A319, executed a go-around at Boston's airport around 11:30 a.m. because another aircraft (AA3161 Boeing 737-823) was departing... from an intersecting runway. Whoops, major ATC error there. Thankfully the landing aircraft saw the departing aircraft moving on the intersecting runway. You see so often with American ATC a lack of standard phraseology and rushed communications, even in exceptional operations such as intersecting runways

Leave to the ATC in major airports in the US to fuck things up… no standard phraseology, not situation awareness no nothing…

The DEI controller cleared one jet to land while in the next breath cleared another to take off from an interesting runway? What a joke. Fire the DEI immediately!

A lot of blame here, mostly on the controller. He told the DL that the traffic would hold. Why would the AA accept the clearance if they heard the traffic would hold? Yes the controller is at fault but there is also a situational awareness issue on the AA crews part.

Why are we departing and landing aircraft on intersecting runway in the first place….. HORRIBLE. Eliminate that abd you eliminate the possibility of something like that happening. Smh.

ATC is wrong but American has to work on situational awareness.

That's a major fuck up by the tower, Great job by the Delta pilots to recognize it and avoid a potential tragedy

Go-arounds can turn into the most f'ed of normal non-normal things we do. I have to say that DL broke the rules of aviate, navigate and communicate. They put communicate first at an extremely critical phase. Fly the damn plane out of danger. Then call the tower.

Glad the crew followed procedures safety first in situations like this.

Not a pilot, but live in the Boston area and fly out of BOS as well as watch it on FR24 a lot. I'm surprised 9/27 and 15/33 incursions don't happen more than this.

Have we ever had as many issues with planes in the sky & air traffic control!?? Are there that many more flights, or less ATC staff (or less capable)? We should have the very best tech!! Are there nasty countries like China interfering with our sky's air traffic safety!??
