Last week Chancellor Merz called Washington’s handling of Iran humiliating. 5,000 U.S. troops are coming home from Germany. That is about 14% of the 36,000 American service members stationed there. Trump is questioning it. 5,000 troops may sound small. But when you start pulling threads from the anchor, the whole structure shifts. NATO's eastern flank depends on Germany as the hub.
