On Sept 21, 1953, a North Korean pilot defected in a MiG-15 to Kimpo Air Base, Seoul. Via Operation Moolah he claimed a $100,000 U.S. bounty (about $1.2mil in 2026). The MiG was evaluated at Kadena AFB by pilots that included Major Chuck Yeager. Spoiler: MiG-15 was a formidable but inferior fighter compared to the F-86 Sabre (more details of MiG assessment including video of gun tests in first comment)🫡

BREAKING: Unfortunately, the Ukrainian Air Force has lost another of its valuable MiG-29 fighter interceptors, this time over Odesa. The MiG-29 was preparing to engage an incoming Russian one-way attack drone with an air-to-air missile but the missile malfunctioned during launch. Its rocket motor ignited, but the missile failed to separate properly from its launcher and remained attached beneath the aircraft’s wing. The burning rocket motor subsequently caused serious damage to the MiG-29, leaving the pilot with no option but to eject. Fortunately, the pilot survived, but the valuable MiG-29 was lost and subsequently destroyed.

As the ejection occurred above the clouds and at a considerable altitude, it could either be the pilot of a Su-30/Su-35 fighter or a Su-34 bomber. Judging by the calm behavior of the pilot, the plane was shot down deep in the Russian rear.

🇮🇳⚔️🇵🇰 Today we celebrated the 7th anniversary of Group Captain Abhinandan Varthman VrC 🫡 shooting down a Pakistan Air Force's F-16B (twin seater) America's 4th generation fighter Jet on 27 February, 2019. Pakistan Army spokesman ISPR Major General Asif Gafoor claimed that they had shot down 2 fighter jets and taken into custody 2 Indian pilots however they could only produce 1 Indian pilot GC Abhinandan and the wreckage of 1 MIG-21 Bison. It was only subsequently realized by PAF that the 2nd pilot captured was F-16B pilot S/L Hasan M Siddiqui. When later asked to produce the 2nd pilot and the wreckage of the 2nd fighter jet, Pakistan had no response. Reality: Evidence clearly shows that the 2nd fighter jet shot down was an F-16B (twin seater) tail number 606 by GC Abhinandan. PAF shamelessly tried to cover up by changing the records from F-16B (twin seater) to F-16A (single seater). Jai Hind 🇮🇳🫡
