Malicious charging cables look exactly like normal ones. The cable is the clearest example. looks like a standard Apple Lightning or USB-C cable. a hidden chip inside gives an attacker remote access to your device the moment you plug it in. what it can do: — log every keystroke — inject commands as if someone is typing on your keyboard — exfiltrate files — open a remote shell — operate over WiFi from up to 300 feet away you cannot tell by looking at it. the chip is inside the cable housing. no visible difference. Hak5(Hak5) sells them commercially at $120-$180. They've been found at conference floors. hotel lobbies. left near charging stations in airports. given away as "free" promotional items at events. Never plug a cable you didn't buy sealed from a reputable retailer. never borrow a charging cable from a stranger. ever. if you need to charge using an unknown cable: use a USB data blocker. it's a small pass-through device that allows power but blocks data pins entirely. costs under $10. fits on a keychain. if you need to share a cable at a conference: use a power-only cable. no data pins at all. physically cannot transmit anything other than charge.

This tow truck driver goes off on these kids. They ran out of gas on the side of the road and a firemen noticed them so he stopped and he gave them some gas. When they went to start the car, the battery was dead. Couldn’t figure out the reason. The firefighter radioed the sheriff. The sheriff then called this tow truck driver. The kids thought the Sheriff was coming. The tow truck driver arrives. Mind you, he got the call at 5:40 AM. The kid tells him they can’t pay for a tow and don’t need one and they can’t pay for a jump either, which they need. He goes ballistic. Well, the tow truck driver forgot his jumper cables. Didn’t pack them. 🤯 You can hear him screaming and cussing at the kid. Said he only got one hour of sleep. Eventually a passerby stopped and jumped their battery and they went on their way. A couple of things, one, for the youngsters, or anyone for that matter, never travel without jumper cables. You never know when you will need them. Two, what kind of tow truck driver doesn’t have jumper cables? 🤯 The tow truck driver talking to them like that is unacceptable. Sure he wasn’t going to get paid. I get it. This is the job you signed up for, being awakened at all hours of the night. Once he knew there was no money he had two choices, leave and go back home or stay and help. 🚨As much as 99% of global internet communications rely on a series of undersea cables that are incredibly vulnerable to sabotage—as China has shown us—and earlier this year China unveiled a special tool that can cut even the deepest undersea cables. Declan Ganley, CEO of RivadaNetworks, estimates it would only take about $60 million to cut enough global undersea cables to bring down the internet around the world. “That's how pathetically vulnerable the global subsea cable infrastructure is because it's just so big, it's so vast, you cannot protect it,” he told me. But if Beijing were to cut those undersea cables, wouldn’t it be cutting themselves off as well? This is what he told me: “They're ready for that, I would argue. So if you know you're going to do that, and you have your own closed network…and you have stockpiled the things that you would need…and you had transportation systems that were resilient enough to operate without the Internet, you could do that. …If the internet goes out…the existing satellite systems that you've heard about go dark. They won't work because they all use ground gateways and ground relay systems that ultimately require and rely on these subsea cables. So you will have this cascading domino effect where your smartphone will not work, your TV will not work, because the IP-based signals that are producing that TV show and putting it onto your TV, that's going to all fail. The logistics systems that the wholesalers use to supply supermarkets will also fail. There will be no flights. Flight aircraft will be grounded because of the IP-based systems that they're allowed to rely upon. Gas stations will not be able to get refueled because of the supply. …If that happens, the last thing anybody is going to be thinking of in Poughkeepsie is: ‘Is Taiwan being invaded right now?’ And they're not going to think about it or care about it, probably for months, because they're not even going to know it happened—for at least days, and probably longer.” Rivada Space Networks

It wasn't closing because it's quite an ambitious chip design, and it really wasn't on a path to success. And then we also had the Dojo program, which was doing okay but not on a path to be competitive with NVIDIA. So I collapsed the two programs into just one program, which is to get everyone focused on the AI5 chip, which is essential. Continue to use NVIDIA for training, but we need the AI5 inference chip, which is a very powerful chip, but it's also a very low-power chip. So it doesn't use a lot of power. Its performance per watt is extremely good. I think it's probably going to be at least 2 to 4 times better than NVIDIA performance per watt at the inference level in the car and the robot.
