Collective Efforts Creating New Pathways of Rural Progress! Chaired the 5th Governing Council meeting of the Village Social Transformation Foundation (VSTF), reviewing the progress of on-ground initiatives and appreciating the collective contributions of all stakeholders. Underlined the importance of people-centric governance, ensuring that every initiative delivers tangible improvements in the lives of rural communities. The need to uphold Seva Bhav (spirit of service) among government functionaries, especially in light of challenges following the withdrawal of fellows. The first phase of VSTF has delivered encouraging results and the second phase will move ahead with greater strength. Building strong village-level institutions, empowering local human resources and adopting village-specific plans will ensure sustainable transformation. With CSR partners bringing not just financial resources but also policy innovations, technologies and creative solutions, rural development in Maharashtra is moving forward with renewed momentum. Key Focus Areas Discussed: • Livelihood & Infrastructure: Strengthening essential rural infrastructure while fostering sustainable livelihood opportunities. • Healthcare: Establishing robust healthcare facilities with emphasis on early detection and screening of cancer and other critical diseases. • Cluster Development & Data-Driven Governance: Enhancing impact through cluster-based development models and insights from data-driven approaches. • Water Conservation & Rural Development: Promoting holistic growth through water management initiatives and integrated rural development programs. Also, an MoU was signed between MITRA, VSTF and the Quality Council of India for the ‘Sarpanch Samvaad’ initiative and another MoU was signed between the Maharashtra Forest Department, VSTF and Sterlite Tech Foundation for large-scale plantation activities in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Infrastructure, Investment, and Water Conservation – Maharashtra on the Rise!✨ It was an overwhelming moment to be at 'TiEcon Mumbai 2025: India’s Leading Entrepreneurial Leadership Summit' in Mumbai, today. Humbled to receive the 'TiE Mumbai Hall of Fame' award at the hands of the legendary, Infosys founder Narayana Murthy ji. This award is a proud recognition of the governance model we embarked on in 2014 under the visionary leadership of our Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji. Receiving this award today is not just an honour but a realization that our efforts are making a real difference and that we are on the right path together. All these transformative infrastructure projects in Maharashtra, especially in Mumbai and MMR—be it the Coastal Road, Atal Setu, Metro Network, or the Vadhavan Project—have become a reality because of our governance, which turned aspirations into achievements. Every project has been backed by thorough study and dedicated efforts, and under the visionary leadership of Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji, we have worked relentlessly to make them happen. Today, these ongoing projects are set to boost the State’s growth significantly. The 4th Mumbai will be created in the area of Vadhavan which will emerge as a dynamic new city, driving massive GDP growth and creating a thriving business ecosystem. In just 5 years, we planned and initiated 372 Km of metro, out of which 150 Km is now delivered. With each passing year, we will continue expanding and delivering more, ensuring a stronger and more connected Maharashtra. Being recognized for water conservation is a significant achievement. In 2014, 14 schemes were executed by 6 different departments. We streamlined them into one scheme, one leader, and one department, launching the ambitious 'Jalyukt Shivar' initiative. Our goal was to make 25,000 villages drought-free, and the Marathwada region saw a significant rise in water levels. In the 2020 Government of India's Groundwater Report, Maharashtra was the only state to show improvement compared to others. This award also recognizes investments, and once again, Maharashtra has become the top destination for FDI. This year, we have broken all previous records—surpassing our own ₹31,000 crore investment milestone from 2016-17. In just 9 months, we have secured ₹1.39 lakh crore in investments, with 50% of the country's FDI flowing into Maharashtra. Today, Maharashtra stands as the new startup capital of India. We are dedicated to reviving Mumbai’s glory and propelling Maharashtra to unmatched greatness! On this occasion, the Founding President of TiE Mumbai Harish Mehta, Uday Mohan, TiE Mumbai President Ranu Vohra and other dignitaries were present. Launched the World Bank-assisted MahaSTRIDE project today in Nagpur, a key milestone in our mission to make Maharashtra a $1 Trillion economy. Over the past 5 years, Maharashtra’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has reached ₹45 lakh crore. However, it is concerning that nearly 50% of this contribution comes from just 7 districts. This imbalance must be addressed. Our vision demands that every district becomes a growth engine. Through MahaSTRIDE, each district will now be treated as an independent economic unit with its own District Strategic Plan, backed by real-time data, resource mapping, and performance benchmarks. We aim to grow the state’s GSDP by ₹35 lakh crore in the next 5 years, and this will only be possible when all districts contribute actively and equitably. A GDP clock at Mantralaya will track this journey in real-time measuring how each district is progressing, and where course correction is needed. Ease of doing business, private investment, and data-driven decision-making will be central to this transformation. We must build an ecosystem where governance enables, not obstructs, where entrepreneurs feel empowered, not encumbered. MahaSTRIDE will give every district the wings to fly. Now it's up to each of us to ensure that potential turns into performance, and aspirations into achievement.
