Due to low rainfall, schools in drought prone areas face water scarcity. ICICI Foundation is changing this narrative by ensuring a sustainable water source. By catching rainfall through rainwater harvesting, we are transforming the lives in over 6,800 schools across the country. Rainwater harvesting involves collecting and storing rainwater from rooftops. This collected water is then directed into storage tanks, wells or directly in to the borewell. This simple yet effective method helps mitigate water scarcity, especially in drought-prone areas. ICICI Foundation: - Has implemented rainwater harvesting programme at over 6,800 rural schools and other institutions - Enabled water harvesting potential of over 16 billion litres of rainwater for drinking, sanitation & agriculture - Provided over 15 lakh students with water in schools - Promoted a habit of water conservation among the future citizens of our country All figures as on March 31, 2024. This spectacle wasn't part of the original plan. During the excavation of a tunnel at the bridge's entrance, karst water was discovered by chance. The water was diverted to a new reservoir to serve the area and irrigate farmland, while the excess was transformed into the world's tallest artificial curtain of water.
