Lol I was still discussing this topic with someone last night. The problem is that young techies don't understand that there's something called “technical debt”. When you vibe code to quickly get the job done, a senior dev is not so much concerned about how fast you're able to deliver. But they are mainly worried about the quality of your delivery; how many places has AI exposed secrets as plain text? How secure are the API keys? And other concerns. AI is supposed to be an assistant and not the doer of the job. If @OpenAI could be advertising job role for software engineers, it should tell you something. Thank you @Amospikins for your contents.

I think it’s possible to vibe code the backend of a banking app, if you have a very good foundational knowledge on the domain. For example, I vibe coded concurrency which wrote what I wanted, if I saw an error or poor code I would reject and fix it. This happened because I already designed the architecture and data flow myself before vibe coding it.

This is something me and one colleague has been arguing since the last few months of 2025. AI is an amazing tool, but it heavily relies on the person behind it, if you don’t know what you’re doing, the AI too won’t know what it’s doing (GIGO persists). The coding landscape has changed from Just building products to understanding deeper fundamentals such as best practices, product design and best of all architecture, AI does exactly what you tell it, so if you say “Build a product”, it will truly build it, but if you know nothing about architecture and other things I mentioned above, the AI would most likely not even know to do it too. You are meant to guide the AI to drive (Assistant) not allow it drive your car and you seating in back seat binge with a blindfold or watching YT and Memes(Vibes). @OdulesiDamilare Gemini and chatGPT are the last models I'll got to for any serious project. That being said, planning matters. I know a lot of average developers that built apps that people use. Regardless, fintech apps should be out of the question for a vibe code.unless it's for practice.
