#WATCH | Delhi: On the government planning to bring a bill to change the name of the MGNREGA scheme, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor says, "It's unfortunate because Mahatma Gandhi had a very, very clear vision of both the rural poor, whom he cared for. He talked about wiping the tear from the poorest person's eye. That whole Ram Rajya and Gram Swaraj were intertwined in Mahatma Gandhi's mind. So it was a very good choice of name to begin with. And everyone knows the scheme for the last 20 years in various Indian languages, as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme. So why change it now? You can change the terms of the scheme. That's the government's prerogative. But changing the name is unnecessary."

Karnataka’s Mahatma Gandhi Stadium being renamed after Congress Karnataka HM Dr G Parameshwara is a blatant insult to Mahatma Gandhi. Congress staged outrage over changing MG-NREGA to G-RAM-G, but naming the Gandhi stadium after a serving Congress leader is perfectly fine for them. When an entire political family and party runs on Gandhi Ji’s name, yet discards it in power, the hypocrisy is complete.
