The truth is, without the contributions of foreign scientists, especially German engineers, we would not have landed on the Moon when we did, and possibly not at all. The most prominent example is Wernher von Braun, a German aerospace engineer and former member of the Nazi party who was brought to the U.S. after World War II through Operation Paperclip. He and his team of German scientists were absolutely critical to the development of the U.S. rocketry program.
