🚨🚨🚨 In a leaked phone call Michael Jackson details the abuse he faced from his father. In some instances making the children oil themselves up to be beat if they messed up a dance move. We see the greatness in a lot of performers and the acts they are able to put on, but a lot of times we don’t see the pain behind what makes some of these artists go to a place artistically where they want to escape. A lot of great entertainers unfortunately are so great at what they do because the art and performances are their escape.

For some of us alcohol is an escape from uncomfortable feelings that we have about ourselves, or an escape from just feeling uncomfortable in the presence of others. The true work in sobriety is about being comfortable as yourself. When you start to genuinely like and accept who you are, you no longer want escape yourself or create someone new to serve others. Anyone that’s on this journey , I just want to reassure you that if you put the work in, really start to better yourself, really start to understand what it is you feel uncomfortable about yourself , as your self-esteem and self-respect grows so will your ability to truly be yourself and not care who likes the true version of you, because you like yourself and that will be enough. Congratulations, Chris and Janine on getting married. I’m glad I could be truly present to experience it. #sober #addiction #Mentalhelth #wellbeing #sobriety

Last week at Gamescom while we were showing off two of our upcoming iam8bit Presents published titles, Petal Runner and Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School, we were one of the unfortunate targets of what turned out to be a spree of thefts from developer booths at the event. We wanted to take a moment to thank everyone out there for their kind words of support while all that chaos was happening... Dear rich Indians, Never look down upon people below us with contempt, as if they are freeloaders. Look at Mumbai today, this mess is not just because of heavy rain but also because of insane corruption in BMC. You may sit in your Mercedes S-Class, but when the city drowns it is ordinary strangers, people you never cared to notice, who wade into filthy water, risk their health, dirty their clothes, and still pull you out to safety without a second thought. We are all dependent on each other. Be kind. Be helpful. Don’t throw your power and privilege at those below you. A free bus ride for the poor will not empty the Government’s coffers. What is emptying them are the massive loan write-offs for rich industrialists and the deep-rooted corruption you choose to ignore. Instead, question the governments that loot in broad daylight and escape accountability with your silent approval.

Cynthia Weil’s footage on 9/11 is particularly distressing. But these brave souls’ stories must be told and remembered. We must never forget what took place almost 25 years ago. As Cynthia zooms in, it looks like what most have said to be a woman in white pants and black shirt waving from the edge of the tower. Fortunately the wind and smoke is blowing above her and to the east, giving her some clean air amongst the rubble 1000 ft in there air. A few stories below her, on the east end of the north tower is a man in black and white who has also found himself a place on the tower to escape the inferno behind and above him, until a piece of debris hits and knocks him off balance. Following this are two more brave souls whose only option was to escape the torture of the smoke and heat. Never forget what happened that day. Respect and love to the victims, their families and the heroes who came together.

My highlight of the week: helicopter-under water escape training 🌊🚁 After returning from space, astronauts typically land with their spacecraft in the ocean. We are retrieved by an incredible team of Flight Surgeons and Crew Support Officers, who pick us up by helicopter and bring us safely back to land. And as always, we also prepare for things that might go wrong there. Training to escape from a capsized helicopter is essential not only for astronauts, but for the entire crew involved. In the event of an emergency water landing, the team only has a few seconds to get out -helicopters are top-heavy, so they can overturn and sink quickly. To prepare us for every possible scenario, the instructors challenged us in all kinds of ways: tinted goggles that block visibility, climbing out through a different window than the one next to us, escaping without using our emergency air supply, and more. All of it designed to help us stay calm and focused - no matter what might happen in an emergency. So what you do is you start your throwing motion, and you can’t dig in with your toe, so you come over the top like a catapult, so all of a sudden your throws are high and not as crisp. Robert Rodriguez on John Carpenter's 'Escape from New York' (1981): “'Escape from New York' (1981), in particular, is the first [sci-fi film] that made me want to be a filmmaker. It moved me, because I was 12, I think. It blew my mind that New York is a maximum-security prison. The power of creating a world like that: you just believe it, because you just say it, and then you see a wall with a special effect. "I wish I hadn't blinded myself... I bet you look kind." 🥺 I was definitely not expecting this escape to end on such an emotional note but wow did this just hit so hard, I'm tearing up like crazy right now. Ending the arc with the mysterious man we met at the beginning in such a big way is so cool, and him coming to learn how honest and pure Luffy is to even wishing he hadn't blinded himself so he could witness it firsthand... fuck this show is so good what a way to end it off. Using blindness to showcase Luffy's characteristics is such an interesting way to change up how someone views him and highlight such a great new character too. Fujitora is by far the best admiral yet in my opinion, but also the one with the most depth too so it makes sense. Dressrosa was long and had some parts that dragged but moments like this have bumped it so high on my arc list. Again, really incredible writing man 🥹
