This piece is 4 years old, and in artist years, that feels like a lifetime. So much can change in that time. Your style, your skill, your perspective. I usually have a hard time looking at my older work, especially anything more than a year old. I tend to focus on all the things I could’ve done better. But this one hits differently. It’s like that one song you used to listen nonstop during a specific time in your life. Every time you hear it, it instantly takes you back. Super nostalgic. That’s what this piece does for me. It reminds me of the younger DeeKay: full of curiosity, obsessed with the craft, completely immersed in the joy of creating. I’m still that person, but with a lot more responsibilities now. That purity I felt back then, I don’t ever want to lose it. I want to keep making art that moves people. I want to stay playful. I don’t want to grow up.

In the End. A Song Dedicated to my brother Earl M. Hunter. My oldest brother has passed on. A very unexpected way to start off my 2025. My brother was so proud of me and everything I accomplished over the years and he never hid it. Even when I felt like y’all weren’t listening to my music or paying attention to things I would be doing I knew ONE person that was watching everything that I was doing and was happy about it everything. From day one my brother always had my back , besides I was the youngest so they always felt like they had to protect me. As we got older much really didn’t change , he always remained the big brother to me until his last day here. I’m really going to miss my brother. It’s weird that someone you have known your whole entire existence is completely gone now. As I get older I do realize that I’m going to see a lot things in life , something’s good ,and something things “bad”but that’s LIFE. I have learned to accept that. My brother always stressed the fact that it’s FAMILY OVER EVERYTHING and during this whole process my family really came together and did what a family is supposed to do and I know that he would love that. Back in the late 1980s, a friend gave me a single floppy disk as a birthday present. He told me it was something you could put games on and actually play, and I remember staring at it all day, wondering if something that magical could really be possible. I followed him to a computer academy, and that was the first time I had ever seen a computer in my life. As a reward for bringing me in, he even got a whole box of floppy disks. That was the moment I first stepped into a completely new world. And when I saw, just like in the video, games being copied onto a disk, inserted into a computer, and actually running… the shock I felt easily ranks in my top five moments of my life.
