Shit man... that last sentence hit. That's something I've wanted to say friends I've lost. It hurts. You start taking blame, kicking yourself for not checking in, then even after times passed you see that one thing you played together on or visited, and are hit with that sinking feeling. And he's right, that first step isn't going to hurt. Maybe your local VA has its issues, but you can't do it all by yourself. What you can do, is the minimum physical and paperwork, and that's something. That's a start.

@SecVetAffairs @Eli_Doubletap @TheAKGuy @DonutOperator @Fat_Electrician Love you guys but bullshit on it being easy. The thing is either intentionally set up to be a total headfuck or unintentionally managed so poorly that it's just as bad. If someone is struggling mentally, the VA experience is bad enough to be the straw that does them in.

@SecVetAffairs @Eli_Doubletap @TheAKGuy @DonutOperator @Fat_Electrician I've been to myltiple VAs, Columbia SC, Greenville SC, Charleston SC, Atlanta GA, Alexandria LA, Asheville NC. By far the Asheville VA has been the best one I've been to. My Dad and I have had a few issues there but overall they've been really good and I recommend everyone here

@SecVetAffairs @Eli_Doubletap @TheAKGuy @DonutOperator @Fat_Electrician I agree with him but to me I want to see the vet benefit con gotten under control first. You shouldn't be getting Military disability because you fell from your house roof and you were still in the military. That right there is just a con. You should get Caleb Hammer on.

@SecVetAffairs @Eli_Doubletap @TheAKGuy @DonutOperator @Fat_Electrician Seriously, NO ONE FUCKING CARES! I'm a veteran of two branches and three services, Im serious...WE care, us guys who served, but mostly, no one gives a rats ass. We'll never achieve anything more than the awards on our chest. The rest is up to us. Love your children.

The hardest part of getting my stuff done with the VA was me followed closely by the terrible VSOs. I'd been told over and over that I'd be denied and I would have to appeal before eventually being rated fairly. This was so destructive and scary for me because of what I had already been through. Then when I finally decided to go through with it, the VSOs kept saying "I've never done one of these," or errr giving advice like, "you don't need to submit anything, it's the VA's responsibility." I was fortunate to have connections to good people who eventually connected me to the right person. Turns out a single competent VSO vould have seen what I had and gotten me in and out in an afternoon, years before, with no doubt I'd have gotten a rating. Once I had yhe right help, I was rated in a couple minths with no need for appeals.

@SecVetAffairs @Eli_Doubletap @TheAKGuy @DonutOperator @Fat_Electrician my issue, I was told back in 2016 the va would not be something I would ever have access too, by a vso. it wasn't until 2024 I finally put in a claim after years of vets telling me I should.

@SecVetAffairs @Eli_Doubletap @TheAKGuy @DonutOperator @Fat_Electrician I have two buddies, one was Army, other was Navy. My navy vet buddy went to the VA and for some reason didn’t get help. he’s okay now but still feel like it’s fucked up because I saw how badly he’s messed up and I help the best I can. But hey I’m not a professional.

@zacharyebell @SecVetAffairs @Eli_Doubletap @TheAKGuy @DonutOperator @Fat_Electrician Well, I have made contact with the VA as far as PTSD during emergencies especially the VA helped me quite a bit over the years as far as hundred percent dental or most other appointments it’s an absolute nightmare..I literally have pulled my own teeth despite my 100% DV rating

@SecVetAffairs @Eli_Doubletap @TheAKGuy @DonutOperator @Fat_Electrician Lets start a conversation about how many vets have taken the "step" because of their frustration with how difficult it is to get the cars they need from the VA because of the bureaucratic nightmare the VA has created.
