Vibe coded this little app for my dad on the flight home yesterday. Let's him easily generate personalized stories for the kids he tutors in reading every week. Fun little ship to sneak in before the new year!

Few impressions from making this: - @claudeai is an incredible experience, if you are at all used to coding apps by hand. - All the models still sick at front end. What you get by default is so far from what I’d ever design. They also need a lot of specific direction in terms of interaction design. - I still think @tailwindcss is powerful but insane 🤣 - @vercel NextJS is dope

This is really cool, there is an app we personally love called @wabi where you could achieve this and then share it with friends and even have others remix it.

Feeding the kids slop from a young age! What a great step ... backwards

my father volunteers his time to read to children who are already behind. I make something to help him create stories of interest to them, in the hope that it increases their literacy to have a better shot at life, and you tweet this? You should stop trying to hawk your little spyware and instead have a long, hard think about how to live more worthy life.

What your father does is honorable, and no one is questioning his intent. The issue is the method. There are generations of great children's books that can spark a love of reading, no need to default to AI-slop just to find a use case for the tech. As for my tool, it automates manual market research for people who value that data. But hey ... maybe pumping out optimized slop for underprivileged 3-year-olds is the worthier path.

thanks! Ya was fun to figure out how to get character consistency throughout the story. My first idea worked best: detailed character prompt gets passed into every image generation request.

Cool! Yep, I was thinking that this would be the “complex” part, getting the character in the same style in every picture. Do you know how much it costs on average to generate a story including the images? (AI costs)

Looks sick! NBP + LLM storytelling is amazing for kid stories and books. Wife and I started a self-service web app to make and print kid books illustrated by AI (amusingly enough named Leo Books after our son). The quality of output I get from NBP is crazy good. @getleobooks
