NO BUT HIS IDEA SO BRILLIANT? 👑: i already talked about it and gave hints to yeodoongies, right? so, it was almost at the final completion stage, but then the price came out. and it ended up being a bit higher than i expected. since i really wanted this item to be practical and actually useful for yeodoongies, i designed it with that in mind—and because of those extra details, the unit cost ended up a bit higher than i first thought 👑: so i thought, “wouldn’t this be a bit too much of a burden for yeodoongies?” that’s why i just decided to scrap it and changed to something else instead 💬: then just give me the one you scrapped 👑: ㅎㅎㅎ ah, that one was actually—well, i guess i can just say it now anyway. actually, i was thinking of a keyboard. the idea for that keyboard was something like i wanted to put hehetmon face on the keyboard—what should i call it? on the keycaps, like emojis. and then, you know those keyboards that don't make that loud clicking sound? not like mechanical keyboards, but ones that sound like asmr... ah, silent! but even though it's silent, it has that, you know—that “sagak-sagak” sound when you press the keys. yeah, you’re right! like “tuduk-tuduk” sound! i had that kind of keyboard in mind and tried to make it happen. but the unit cost ended up being higher than i expected. and i thought, this is a bit too much— i know our yeodoongies would want to have it no matter what, but if the price is this high, it’ll be such a burden on yeodoongies. so, i just made the call to scrap it and switched to something else

Okay, I got Claude Code to actually fly my plane now It controls the keys via Chrome by running it with `claude --chrome` There is some issue with the lift vs gravity formula though so it takes a lot of speed to take off, but it's really cool to see it control and fly the plane This means it can code the game and then play it to check in a loop to theoretically improve it without my help (haven't gotten there though) I run it like this btw: `IS_SANDBOX=1 claude --dangerously-skip-permissions --chrome` (Run at your own risk)

✨ To inspire more people to go build something now that we have AI to help us (especially non-tech people, cause I still know so many who are scared of building something): I added a [ BUILD IT ] button to It's like a mini-Lovable/Replit/v0: Any idea you see you like, you can click [ BUILD IT ], and it will use Opus 4.6 to build a landing page for it And then you can download the code it generated It's not a full startup of course, but a nice preview of what it can be, to give you an idea and inspire you to build it out further The code is live streamed also so you can see it being built 😊 Ironically this itself took me 1 hour to build with AI too Completely free and I pay for the tokens (please don't abuse it :D)

🔌Today I created a virtual web-based null modem so now you can finally play Quake 1 (from 1996) in multiplayer in the browser with other people online! This week I was able to create a virtual printer that listens on the COM2 port to make a web-based printer work in Windows 3.11, like on you can actually print to, it was one of my ideas when I started but it was always too difficult to make, I had no idea where to start, but this week AI was able to do it! Today I woke up and thought "if we can listen to COM2 via JS, how about listen to COM1 from Quake 1?" then we could forward the COM1 data via Websockets and to another user to create a virtual null modem (A null modem was a cable you'd use to connect two computers to each other directly in the 90s, if you couldn't afford buying a network card you'd use this to network, but you could only play with one other computer not multiple) So I built it, it took about an hour and works! I wanted to get Quake 1 in DOS to work with multiplayer for 2 years but I could never get it to work, but now it did it This project is a good benchmark of how capable AI is becoming, figuring stuff out that humans would take months within an hour You can try it here, I don't know how it will match lots of people but let's see, you have to exit to DOS first (ALT-F4 or FN-Option-F4 on Mac), then type CD games, then CD quake, then quake, then ESC, then Multiplayer, then either Create New Game or Join Game, and use Direct Connect, keep settings same and you're in!

I have a speech impediment. Some days, I struggle to say my own name. I spoke to Matt Chorley about stammering, the impact it’s had on my life in politics and how I navigate it. Q: How will I know when it’s the right time to go full-time on a startup idea? Tony Fadell is the co-creator of the iPod, iPhone, and Nest. As he puts it in the clip below: “Great ideas chase you.” He continues: “In this world, there are so many people who have more ideas than they have time to implement… I used to be like that. But the best ideas are the ones that you can really focus on… Now I try to run away from a great idea. And then it stalks me. It hunts you down because you’re like: ‘Ah, that’s going to have this problem, I’m going to put it aside.’ And then a few days later, you’re like: ‘Actually I think I know how to solve that problem.’ At some point it just becomes this black hole that sucks you in and you can’t think about anything else but this.” Mark Zuckerberg gave similar advice in a previous Startup Archive answer: “I always think the most important thing entrepreneurs should do is pick something they care about and work on it, but don’t actually commit to turning it into a company until it’s working. If you look at the data of the very best companies, I think a tremendous percentage of them have been built that way and not from people who decided upfront that they wanted to start a company because you just get locked into a local maxima a lot of the time.” Let great ideas chase you and don’t turn it into a company until it’s working. There’s almost always a ton of work you you can do upfront to de-risk an idea before turning it into a company. And perhaps just as important: you want to make sure you’re still excited about the idea after a few months and the novelty has worn off—it should be all you can think about. Companies are almost always a 10 year project if they work and a 2-3 year project if they fail. It’s worth it to be patient before jumping in with two feet.

Going to concede here on trying to get to number 1 It’s simply too much for me I can’t compete against heavy DDA or Scripting or whatever you want to call it. Plus the top 1-3 players in the leaderboards getting free wins from stream snipers lmao. I can’t compete against that while I have to sweat for every win. Sucks that I don’t have an infinite amount of time anymore to be able to get these type of crazy achievements so yea… 😅 It was fun trying though!

Christmas can be a wonderful time of year but it can also be incredibly tough for people. For so many reasons it can actually be the toughest. There is happiness everywhere and an abundance of excess to be had everywhere you look. I know it’s a time when i always struggled when I was drinking and battling other addictions and demons. It can seem like you are alone. That the whole world is against you. How can everybody be so happy yet here you are feeling so worthless, down or panic ridden. I just wanted to say that you are not alone and millions of others have the same issues. The most remarkable thing I ever got for Christmas was a phone call just before I went into ICU. It was a simple humble an unexpected call from someone checking in. It’s why I think it’s important to remember that it’s not designer handbags, PlayStations or iPads that make this time of year. It could be a simple detour to see someone. A 10 minute chat with an old friend that means the world to them. Swallowing your pride to say sorry to someone. It’s the little things. The checking in to let someone know they are not alone. As for me I’m sad and missing Derek and Jumbo is very ill beside me as I write this but I’m also optimistic. I’ve lots of dogs to look after, I’m forcing myself to be social and have not 1 but 2 Christmas meals with friends and I love the life I have. I’m lucky and humble about that now because it wasn’t always that way. Maybe one person who needs to see this will. It’s just a time of year. If you are having it tough you are not alone. If you are doing well yourself have a little check in with somebody you know probably needs it 🙏🥰

my two favorite people saying the same thing “just give it a try” 🥹 🦌: the most important thing is to just give it a try. i think the idea of taking that first step is one of the most important things in life 🦮: moments when we have to make big decisions can be scary, and i think that's completely normal. but the fact that something feels scary also means it’s a very important opportunity. that’s why i think it’s important to really think about what you want and then just give it a try. because if you don’t try, you’ll definitely regret it later on

Jim Jarmusch on how he got the inspiration to make 'Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai' (1999): "Interviewer: Can you tell me where the initial idea for 'Ghost Dog' (1999) came from? Jarmusch: I can’t really because I did everything backwards. I started with a really vague idea, but wanting to work with Forest Whitaker was really the beginning. So I was trying to think of what kind of character I could make for the qualities in him as an actor that I liked. That contradiction he has of being both gentle and imposing. So it really started from here. I thought of a warrior character, but with a spiritual side so that I could get both aspects of him as an actor. Then the samurai thing became interesting to me. Unlike Western warriors, who trained just as warriors, Eastern warriors like samurai—or more particularly, Shaolin monks in China—are also priests and teachers. Although samurai are not priests, there is a spiritual depth to their training. So it seemed like an interesting thing. Then to make a kind of Don Quixote character who follows an ancient code that is not part of the modern world seemed interesting to me. I started collecting ideas, as I always do, and eventually I sit down and weave them together and see what the hell I’ve come up with." (Jim Jarmusch's interview with Chris Campion, 2000)
