VIDEO | After Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, activist Sonam Wangchuk says, "This time, we have achieved accountability. Now, the focus must be on reforms. A nation is not built by a single resignation. There must also be reforms in education, and work should continue in that direction. I sincerely hope... that, with the same generosity with which the government has taken this step, it will also commit itself to implementing reforms. Reforms should not be limited to education alone but should also extend to governance. I hope that, from now on, the way the country is governed will change, that it will be guided not by fear, but by love, goodwill, and mutual respect." #WATCH | Gurugram, Haryana: Activist Sonam Wangchuk says, "I welcome and respect the steps taken by the government and Dharmendra Pradhan, and congratulate all countrymen. This is a victory for democracy that we witnessed today. I congratulate and thank our CJP team who first raised this issue, as well as the volunteers who supported them, the students, youth, and elders from across the country who stood up for democracy. I respect all of them, and most importantly, I respect the way they maintained peace. I hope we maintain this peace and that no wrongdoing occurs anywhere in the future...We need to work on reforms. A nation isn't built by resignation alone. There should be reform in education, and further work should be done on that. I fully hope that the generosity with which the government has taken this step will also be reflected in reform efforts—reforms not just in education, but in governance as well. I hope that from now on, the way the country is run will change. The country will be run with love and affection, not fear, and will be led on the path of truth, not injustice."

Germany's Chancellor Merz on his reforms: The majority of the population does not reject reforms per se. They are ready to go along with such reforms, to accept them... But anyone who demands changes from the people — and we are doing that — must state openly what is changing, why it has to change, and who will be affected by it. It must be fair and everyone must make their contribution.

VIDEO | Activist Sonam Wangchuk says, "I am from Ladakh, and I am an environmental activist. I hope the government will sincerely carry forward the ongoing process of protecting Ladakh's mountains and ensuring democracy for its people... Together, we should strengthen and keep our borders peaceful while moving forward on the path of development. In Ladakh, this process should continue with complete honesty and in consultation with the people. Similarly, in our neighbouring Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the promises made to the people, whether regarding statehood or democratic rights, should also be fulfilled. That is my expectation. I am saying this from my own perspective because I come from that region. As for the rest of the country, there should be meaningful reforms in education. No student or parent should have to go through the hardships that these students and their families have had to endure." (Full video available on PTI Videos -

Through dialogue, solutions can be found. We will also get an opportunity to raise the reforms we want. We have been discussing many such reforms outside, but there has been no accountability. Discussions are happening in the media and during protests, but the real discussion needs to happen before the government. The government must answer. Young people are unemployed, and imposing such penalties on them is not right...They say the discussion will begin after 2 PM today. Let it continue all night if necessary, but accountability must be ensured. We are certainly in favour of a discussion, but during that discussion, answers must be provided regarding the firing of shots—why were the children of our own country subjected to such mistreatment and violence?..."

VIDEO | Delhi: After meeting Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi, AISA president Neha Bora says, “I think the discussion we had today with Rahul Gandhi sir was most fruitful. Discussions like these, about the country's education system, hardly ever take place. There is no meaningful discussion on education. There is no discussion on how the entire education system has been taken over in such a way that the education, learning, and curiosity of young, promising minds are being destroyed. We had a wonderful discussion on this issue. Another concern that we shared with sir was that there was a call for a Bihar Bandh today. Before the bandh, yesterday, a large number of student activists were arrested by the Bihar Police…The three demands that sir has put forward here truly represent the demands of the youth and students of this country." She added, "There can be no step back on the demand for Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. No change of ministry will be acceptable. No bill against paper leaks is going to satisfy the demand that Dharmendra Pradhan must resign. There must also be accountability for the violence that took place on the 20th. The Commissioner of Police and the Home Minister must also be held accountable. There can be no compromise or adjustment on this issue.” (Full video available on PTI Videos -

#WATCH | Kolkata | Rebel TMC MP Saayoni Ghosh says, "It is a very positive development that Sonam Wangchuk has ended his fast. I am grateful to him, and I believe that now that a dialogue has begun between the government, the students, and the CJP, it is likely to lead to a positive and constructive outcome. I believe one thing: the students belong to the nation, and the government also serves the nation. Whatever happens should be in the best interest of both the students and the government, and a consensus should be reached. The way the opposition parties have tried to take political advantage of this movement, which was started by the CJP, the youth of the country, and the students, is not appropriate. They have tried to serve their own political interests, and I do not think that is right... The government has already begun listening to the students, and I hope it will continue to consider their legitimate demands. My expectation from the government is that it will address their concerns and work towards a satisfactory resolution."

VIDEO | Delhi: CJP spokesperson Deepak Balyan, says, "The primary demand of the youth protesting across the country is the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. That is their first issue. The second issue is directly linked to his resignation. Once Dharmendra Pradhan resigns, accountability and responsibility can be fixed. We believe that 20 students lost their lives because of the failures under his watch, and students have been sitting in protest since morning. Students are frustrated, angry and disappointed because of Dharmendra Pradhan. Their families take loans to fund their education and they spend years preparing for examinations, only for question papers to be leaked. This has caused them immense hardship and severe mental distress. They want Dharmendra Pradhan to resign so that responsibility is fixed and reforms can be brought into the education system. As for Sonam Wangchuk's health, he has been on a hunger strike for nearly 26–27 days. We are deeply concerned about his condition, and the entire country shares this concern except the BJP. Sonam Wangchuk is a national asset. He deserved to be treated with dignity, but instead he was taken away hidden behind curtains, which was extremely shameful. Apart from that, students were subjected to a lathicharge on the 20th. Will the Prime Minister speak about that? The Prime Minister has said that cases will be taken up in fast-track courts and that the guilty will be punished quickly. We ask him... if that is the case, what is preventing you from seeking Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation? Why are you unwilling to address that issue?" #CJP #DharmendraPradhan (Full video available on PTI Videos -

VIDEO | Delhi Jantar Mantar Protest: CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, says, "In yesterday's meeting, we received a positive response regarding compensation and legal cases. We got an in-principle agreement, and we hope to receive the written agreement today as well. However, there has been no concrete decision on our main demand... the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. In fact, what we saw in the mainstream media yesterday, citing sources, was that Dharmendra Pradhan will not resign. If he is not going to resign, then these meetings serve no purpose. In that case, we will move ahead with whatever strategy we decide next. If the government remains adamant, despite the entire country demanding only Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, and says that he will not resign, then let it be made clear. But if the government continues with this approach, we too will be compelled to take tougher decisions." #CJP #JantarMantarProtest (Full video available on PTI Videos -
