🚨 VIDEO FRAME ANALYSIS. WHAT THE CAMERA ACTUALLY SHOWS 🚨 This still is from ICE Agent Johnathan David Ross's own cellphone footage. It matters bc perspective matters. First. Camera angle. The phone is already canted off the driver side. That means the agent was not directly in front of... the vehicle. He’s offset. Side angle. Not a head-on threat. Second. Steering input. Look at the driver’s hands. That is a classic hand-over-hand steering motion. That’s how u turn a wheel to redirect a vehicle. Not how u accelerate straight into someone. The motion is consistent with turning away, not charging forward. Third. Vehicle movement. From the camera’s perspective the vehicle is angling away from the agent, not tracking directly toward him. The front wheels are turned. The hood line shifts laterally. Physics doesn’t lie even when press releases do. Fourth. Agent positioning. Federal use-of-force training is explicit. Do not cross in front of a moving vehicle. Officers are trained to angle off. create distance. disengage. Stepping into the path of a car collapses the decision tree into lethal force. That’s called manufacturing a threat. Fifth. Policy. ICE follows DHS Use of Force Policy. It mirrors DOJ standards. Firearms are not to be discharged at moving vehicles unless deadly force is unavoidable. Officers are expected to move out of the vehicle’s path when feasible. Standing in front of a car then firing violates core training doctrine. Bottom line. The camera angle shows he wasn’t squarely in front. The driver’s hands show she was turning. The vehicle trajectory shows lateral movement away. The agent crossed in front anyway. This isn’t hindsight quarterbacking. This is video. geometry. and the policy ICE agents are trained to follow. I put together this analysis. This constitutes homicide. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Two facts are dispositive. Except… that’s not what the video shows. In the video, an ICE agent rushes the driver’s window with his gun drawn. The agent recklessly waves his gun around, and appears to order the driver to roll down the window. That’s an extreme use of force from the very beginning. Another agent approaches the car, and moments later, they violently smash the driver’s window. And notice how the driver doesn’t try to flee until ICE violently escalates everything. He drives around the ICE vehicle, makes it into the street… not hitting a single ICE agent, or vehicle. Then, AFTER the car is already past every agent, and driving away, an ICE agent opens fire. The law is pretty clear… officers may only use deadly force, against a fleeing person, if they have probable cause to believe that person poses an immediate threat of death, or serious physical injury to the officer, or others. So, where was the immediate threat? The car had already passed the agents… and was driving AWAY. ICE also claimed Lara-Hernandez had a criminal history of assault, and that this was a targeted enforcement operation. Yet, publicly available court records reportedly do not show any active warrants. Federal agents don’t get to point guns at people without legal justification. They don’t get to fire at a vehicle after the immediate threat has passed. And they don’t get to lie to police about what happened. So, when are we going to start holding these agents accountable?

Tim Pool is right in his analysis. The officer was NOT in front of her vehicle until AFTER she backed up. The front tires then accelerate while they are pointed towards the agent, and appear to spin out on the ICE. This is all the information the ICE agent had in the moment. Also, there was no reason for her to back up to leave. The road was clear in front of her and the ICE agents were to the left and right of her car. The ICE agent only ended up in front because she backed up. This leads me to believe she wasn’t just trying to leave. Chat - what do you think?

In the video, a U.S. citizen is peacefully filming an ICE vehicle, that is sitting in a parking lot. He walks to the back of the SUV to document that it has no license plate. That’s when the ICE agent jumps out, screaming, “Get away from my vehicle!” while aggressively charging toward the teenager. The teenager immediately backs away, but the ICE agent keeps walking at him, tries to trip the teenager , and continues yelling… even though neither of them are anywhere near the vehicle anymore. Filming government officials performing their duties, in public, is protected by the First Amendment. That protection doesn’t disappear just because the official doesn’t like being recorded. An officer also can’t lawfully use physical force simply because someone is filming them. Using force, to stop someone from recording, is a violation of that person’s constitutional rights. And let’s not ignore the reason the ICE agent got out of his car in the first place... Illinois law requires vehicles, driven on public roads, to display valid registration plates. This ICE vehicle is not following that law. So, if your first instinct, when someone records your conduct, is to assault them… you’re proving exactly why the public is recording in the first place.

BREAKING: Woman shot and killed by ICE agent during altercation in Minneapolis. This is a developing situation. — Video analysis provided by Josh Brooks : Cell phone footage recorded near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue shows members of ICE attempting to clear a blocked road during on-going operations in the Minneapolis area. It's unclear exactly what caused the individual driving the vehicle to block the road, but it's likely that the person was attempting to impede ICE operations in the area which is fairly normal for downtown Minneapolis. After several seconds, the vehicle in question attempts to drive away from the ICE agents that are confronting the driver. The wheels of the suspect vehicle slip on the ice before the driver gets traction and starts to speed away from the scene, prompting the ICE agents to open fire, killing the driver and causing them to crash into an adjacent power pole and vehicle. Due to the angle of the recording camera, it's unclear if the ICE agent was in front of the vehicle, which would likely justify the shooting as cars are commonly referred to as deadly weapons when the driver turns them into a battering ram against law enforcement.

Here’s why: First off, it’s against DHS policy & training for an officer to approach a vehicle from the front in this situation, and this “officer-induced jeopardy” negates the officers use of force claim and puts him at fault, period. There’s no debate on this as video evidence from multiple sources clearly show Ross stopping in front of her vehicle, and then taking the time to shift his phone from his right hand to his left so he can draw his weapon…BEFORE she even started moving. THIS is simply reality, and the conversation should end here. Second, it’s against DHS Use of Deadly Force policy (which is codified law) to fire at a moving vehicle that doesn’t pose imminent danger to officers, and even if they ARE in danger, it mandates deescalation before using deadly force, which EXPRESSLY states simply “moving out of the way” of a vehicle as a correct course of action before using deadly force (see attached doc below). Third, there is already well-established legal precedent governing these EXACT types of situations, and this officer would likely be found guilty by any jury in the U.S. For example: Adam’s vs. Speers (2020): “Once Speers was no longer in the path of the vehicle, the justification for the use of deadly force ended.” Orn vs. City of Tacoma (2019): “A reasonable jury could conclude that once Orn was no longer in the car’s trajectory, the threat of serious physical harm to him was eliminated.” Cordova vs Aragon (2009): “Where the officer had moved out of the way of the oncoming vehicle, the use of deadly force was not justified.” Villanueva vs. Cali (2021): “a reasonable jury could conclude that the Officers used excessive force, because they lacked an objectively reasonable basis to fear for their own safety, as they could simply have stepped back or to the side to avoid being injured.” Fifth, the videos/pics below CLEARLY show the officer was NOT in immediate danger, and the woman was moving away from him when he fired his FIRST shot when he was already clear to the left of the vehicle, and he fired the second & third shots point-blank into her face from the SIDE of the vehicle as she passed. This is Chicago… a dense, urban area with traffic in every direction. 2. The street is two-way… you can clearly see another car driving toward the camera. 3. The ICE agent, in an unmarked vehicle, is sitting in the road. 4. They then make a very wide turn… onto the left side of the road. 5. At this point, the agent is driving on the wrong side of the road. 6. The ICE agent, seemingly unaware of their surroundings (never ideal while driving in a major city), tries to enter the correct lane… without signaling, and without checking to see if someone’s already in that lane. 7. This is why you don’t get in front of a vehicle! I do NOT think he will be doing that again! Dude lunges at a vehicle in a parking lot, breaking the back windshield. He then proceeds to kick the vehicle and challenge the driver to a brawl. The driver gets out for a minute and has words with the attacker before getting back into his vehicle to drive off. The man then steps in front of the vehicle as the driver floors it, giving him a ride on the hood of his car for the length of the parking lot. Play stupid games……

In Kaplan’s view, the danger was created by the officer’s own actions, not by an intentional attack by the driver.
