Once again, colour + shading + light + motion matter way more to how a game looks than the number of polygons you can cram into a texture file.

Meanwhile 2025. How did things go wrong with AAA gaming?

I easily got over 1,000 hours in this game. Battlefield don’t hit the same anymore

complacency is a real bastard. it's because the entire industry spent the last 15 years worrying about "social justice" rather than quality.

I loved BF:1 quite a bit. I thought, "why go backwards" but they did a good job of adapting the game and the vehicles to the time period. Watching this is honestly making me jones for it.

Battlefield 1 was the peak of games.

You don't understand. Vast resources had to be allocated to ensure character representation for Black and Brown people. They also had to make all the female characters homely and lesbian. I mean, these things are obviously waaaaay more important than graphics and story.

The immersion was just on another level in this game. The graphics, the sound design, the gameplay, the weapons, the music. Rarely played a game that felt so right…

That's what I've been discussing here. Ray tracing is an invention designed solely to raise hardware prices, because it hasn't improved much. If you look at Battlefields 4, 5, and 1, you'll see how beautiful the games already were, as well as Ryse Son of Rome and RDR2.

Well the market has been in a downturn. This is when gaming was peak tbh. Heathly balance of campaign and multiplayer goes a long way.

BF1 is still single-handedly the most impressive AND immersive Battlefield game I ever played. It is incredible, anybody that hasn't played BF1 shouldn't have an opinion about what a great Battlefield game looks like Hell...nostalgia just hit me, I might download the game today.

this could run >60fps on a 1080 without smear AA and still look better than any other UE5 game including E33 btw

It would probably play better if it looked like this, and with no diminishment of gameplay.
