Just as I promised, here’s the video of Magombani Primary School in Kwale, Singapoor. Look at the state of the classrooms. Teachers say the school has too many students, some are forced to study under trees. In the video, you’ll see a mat in one classroom. Because of overcrowding, many children sit on mats or directly on the floor. And the state of the toilets is truly pitiful. All this, while the government wastes money on petty luxuries.

The Omusati Regional Governor, Immanuel Shikongo, has handed over 94 beds, valued at more than N$300,000, to Negumbo Senior Secondary School in the Elim Constituency of the Omusati Region. The beds were donated jointly by the governor’s office, the Elim Regional Council, and the Omusati Directorate of Education under the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, following reports of a bed shortage at the school two months ago. According to the governor, learners have been forced to sleep on the floor due to lack of beds. “We received a report two months ago that there is a shortage of beds at Negumbo SSS, and it was a challenge to the learners who had to sleep on the floor or self-made beds." Hostel supervisor and teacher Ndemuweda said the hostel was overcrowded. The school tried to repair old beds by welding them back together, but it did not solve the problem. He said overcrowding at the school has also affected hygiene and learning conditions. He further noted that last year the school recorded a chickenpox outbreak that affected many learners, which he linked to the cramped hostel accommodation. I just watched this disturbing video of nursery school pupils of Community Primary School, Umuora Obulechi, Oriuzor, in Ezza North LGA of Ebonyi State, receiving lessons in their terrible classroom. The government just suspended the teacher and principal for letting someone show the rot in this school. This same state spent billions sending a handful of persons to the UK for education while ignoring the poor children and poor families. Let’s find the suspended teachers and support them. We can pay them a year salary each and find other ways to support them. For the government that suspended them, shame on you. Fix this school for Christ sake and don’t be wicked to these children.

Pupils suspended after water attack on teacher at Hoër Tegniese Skool, Klerksdorp Five pupils from Hoër Tegniese Skool in Klerksdorp have been suspended after a video showing them dousing a teacher with water went viral on social media. The incident took place on Tuesday, 19 August 2025, when the pupils, dressed in overalls and balaclavas, disrupted learning activities in the school’s locker area. When a teacher attempted to intervene and restore order, he was pelted with paper before being splashed with a bucket of water from behind. North West Education MEC Viola Motsumi condemned the behaviour as “barbaric and unacceptable,” warning that such conduct would not be tolerated in schools. The learners have been placed on a five-day precautionary suspension while a formal disciplinary process, in line with the school’s code of conduct, is underway. Parents have been informed, and the matter will be dealt with by the School Governing Body. Tired of their teachers going out on strike yet again, this time during exam season, children and parents have begun mounting their own counter-demonstrations. After years of disruption to their education, they are urging the grown-ups to ‘teach or quit’. A clip of Friday’s protest has been widely shared on social media. Angry pupils confront teachers who have chosen to spend the day on the picket line, rather than in the classroom.
