Why not do it with a generative reconstruction model! We show that a camera-conditioned video diffusion model can be transformed into a generative reconstruction model that directly outputs a high-quality 3D Gaussian Splatting representation through self-distillation, without requiring real-world training data. Scott Bessent participated via video link in the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome and presented the Reconstruction Investment Fund, aimed at mobilizing American companies, resources, and experts for Ukraine's recovery. "Economic security supports national security. That's why President Trump spearheaded the establishment of the United States Reconstruction Investment Fund. With sound macroeconomic management and robust foreign investment, Ukraine's economic future will be far stronger than its past. The Reconstruction Investment Fund is key to unlocking that abundant future," the U.S. Treasury Secretary said. Scott Bessent added that the United States will work to ensure that "no person, state, or company that finance or supply the Russian war machine will be allowed to benefit from Ukraine's reconstruction".

Reconstruction isn't purely physical. What is being proposed in Syria is the remaking of the economy and politics at once, in a top-down fashion. From the outset, it was clear that al-Sharaa's preferred reconstruction model was Rwanda under Paul Kagame: openness to the international economy, with authoritarian undertones that assume reconstruction requires a highly concentrated center of decision-making and a strong, strong, man! In practice, this has appeared in proposed tax cuts, lower tariffs, the lifting of most subsidies, and an excessive focus on attracting foreign investment, alongside a clear belief that benefits will automatically trickle down. We can agree or disagree with the proposed model, but who has the right to decide?
