🇭🇷⚔️Croatia marks the 34th anniversary of the Battle of Vukovar and the establishment of the 204th Brigade of the Croatian Army. The battle for Vukovar was the bloodiest battle in the Homeland War. Although the Serbian army captured the city after 87 days of siege, it was a pyrrhic victory. Serbian losses were huge: over 10,000 - 15,000 soldiers killed, over 650 destroyed tanks and 20 destroyed aircraft.

Last month, on the anniversary of when this battle began, I traveled with a bipartisan delegation to ceremonies in Belgium and Luxembourg to honor the brave Allied soldiers who fought in this historic battle—including my own father, who was wounded twice, earning two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. It’s easy to see why we call these brave servicemembers our greatest generation.
