Operatives of SACU of the Delta State Police Command gathered information from a concerned citizen on the kidnapping of a woman who was released after they collected ransom. The police alongside two vigilantes from Obiaruku and Abraka communities stormed Obiaruku bush, engaged the kidnappers killing one in the process and their AK-47 rifle was recovered.

He reportedly spent three days in captivity before his family paid ransom for his release. After the incident, the Nigerian police successfully recovered his vehicle and kept it at the police headquarters in Awka, Anambra State. However, after the de@th of his father in January 2025, Basil returned to the station to reclaim his car. On his first visit, he reportedly saw the vehicle, took a picture of it, and left. When he later returned to complete the process of retrieving it, the police were allegedly unable to provide the vehicle again. Up till now, Basil says he has not seen his car, while Harrison Gwamnishu claims information reaching him suggests that a senior police officer allegedly sold the vehicle.
