And the culmination of all this is August 24, 2026 – Independence Day of Ukraine, the 35th anniversary of its restoration. 🇺🇦 Zelensky: Today we celebrate the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – an independent Ukraine, a Ukraine that knows how to defend itself, a Ukraine that stands in such a way that there is simply no one in the world who could afford to ignore us, our state. And even those in the world who still do not believe in Ukraine or simply do not know enough about Ukraine, are still forced to reckon with how Ukraine will react. Few states in the world have such weight. Even fewer could really stand against such Russian strikes, assaults, and meanness, from which Ukraine is actually defending itself every day and every night. We are deterring a full-scale Russian invasion. We have been holding back Russian murderers for almost four years of full-scale war – after years of hybrid war – we are keeping them behind the front line. Ukraine exists, and the fate of Ukraine really matters, and the world must reckon with this. I met with participants of the Ukrainian Youth Forum “Youth Acts.” Today, our country celebrates Youth Day. Of course, for all of us, security is the first priority. But the Government must also take very specific, clear action to support all normal forms of public life in Ukraine – so that Ukrainian families, our people, our youth, and our children have a normal environment for life in Ukraine, one that is as fulfilling as possible. The renewed Government of Ukraine is now preparing the Cabinet of Ministers’ program of action, and I expect that civilian aspects of life, and youth policy in particular, will receive sufficient attention in the Government’s program. And we all understand the depth of this task – it is not simply about something the state can give, or something a person can do – independently or in cooperation within their community or with the state. It is much more than that. It is about reasons to stay in Ukraine, to live in Ukraine, to plan your own life and your family’s life in Ukraine, and to know that Ukraine will care about you and your family, about your future.

I presented state awards on the occasion of Ukraine’s Constitution Day to Ukrainian men and women who work for our state. First and foremost, to our military: I personally presented the Orders of the Golden Star to the Heroes of Ukraine, and also handed awards to the families of the fallen who, tragically, were awarded this title posthumously. I also presented awards to Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko; the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epiphanius; our multi-time champion Liudmyla Luzan; war correspondent Andriy Tsaplienko; and the first responders and a police officer who saved the Dormition Cathedral after the Russian strike. I thank everyone who, through their work, words, faith, and actions, supports Ukraine and our people. Everyone who, in their place, helps build a free and strong state. A state that is fighting today for its freedom and independence. And it will certainly preserve them.

Yet, as it was then, the strength and unity of the Ukrainian people proved that the country would endure. To this day, Ukraine continues to fight, systematically degrading and destroying Russian military capabilities on a large scale, and will continue to do so for as long as anyone remains willing to step onto another nation’s land with hostile intent. This war may last a long time, but Ukraine will prevail — and rise again like a phoenix. 🇺🇦🫡 Glory to Ukraine, to the Ukrainian people, to the army — the central symbol of Ukraine’s resistance — to its president, who did not break and could not be broken, and of course to the Georgian heroes who fell in battle and to those who continue fighting on Ukrainian soil against our common enemy.

Over the years of war, Ukraine has built an almost entirely new defense industry. Modern. Technological. An industry that meets the challenges of war. And today, we can all see the results of this work – on the ground, at sea, and in the sky. Ukrainian strength that we saw today on Khreshchatyk, on the Dnipro, and in our skies is the first-ever drone parade of its kind. Ground robotic systems – Termit, Rys, Simba, Ardal, Zmiy, and Ratel. Our fleet, which Ukraine created during the great war – Ukrainian naval drones. Sea Baby, MAGURA, and Sargan. Our aerial target interceptors – P1-Sun, Litavr, and Sting. Ukrainian bombers – Vampire, Lasar, and Heavy Shot; SHARK and LF-400 reconnaissance drones; our long-range sanctions – Morok and Sichen. And this is only part of what Ukraine can already be proud of. Ukrainian might. What we use to protect the lives of our people. What makes this war distinctive now. And what, after this war, will enable Ukraine to become a true security provider. The new Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov: The only one who does not want peace is Russia. We feel it in our homes; we hear it in our skies. And our main security guarantee is our Defense Forces, as well as the courage and ingenuity of the Ukrainian people. Ukraine has already become a global leader in unmanned technologies. We have built a drone market, our own unmanned fleet, missiles, electronic warfare systems, ammunition, and drone interceptors. On the battlefield, the heroism of Ukrainian Warriors is unquestionable. They are the ones holding the front line, and we owe them everything - our homes, our families, and our freedom. At the same time, it must be said that no country in the world was prepared for the challenges of a war of this scale. If not for civil society, the donations of Ukrainians, the work of volunteers and charitable foundations, the support provided to every unit, and the backing of our Western partners, we might no longer exist as a state. Together, united, we achieved the impossible.
