Vitalik: zk Will Transform Not Only Blockchains, but the Entire Internet On January 27, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin stated at the ETH ChiangMai togETHer Tuesday event that zero-knowledge proofs (zk) offer not only privacy and scalability benefits for blockchains, but may also extend their impact to broader internet use...

Vitalik is right. Just as zk can extend to new use cases and applications, the broader privacy tech can be layered beyond crypto, covering messaging (@Bchat_official), browsing, identity and everyday online interactions, all powered by the Beldex network and $BDX.

Zero-knowledge proofs are opening up enterprise use cases we couldn't build before. Privacy-preserving tokenization, verifiable computation for complex asset logic, and compliance-ready settlements are all becoming viable now.

it's interesting to see how zero-knowledge proofs can potentially simplify complex processes like identity verification and computation verification. this could be a big step towards making the internet more secure and user-friendly.

Honestly, if there’s one thing that could actually reshape the internet, it’s zk… this goes way beyond just crypto speculation.

yeah but zk alone won’t do it adoption needs way more than just tech

Privacy is key. Institutional companies don't want everyone tracking their activities on-chain.

ZK flipping the internet's trust model is the thesis. When you can prove computation without revealing inputs, you remove the dependency on trusted intermediaries — from banking to ML inference. The crypto bootstrapping was just the proving ground.

zk proofs are the missing primitive. once you can verify anything without revealing anything, the trust assumptions of the entire stack collapse in the best way possible.

ETH is sliding toward centralization, while Ethereum Classic represents the true decentralized alternative: as robust as Bitcoin, but with the power of smart contracts. Today, the real Ethereum chain—Ethereum Classic—is trading at over $8.

ZK's ability to verify data without exposing it could revolutionize identity verification. This addresses critical blockchain and internet challenges simultaneously. Vitalik's vision is spot on.

Zero-knowledge is redefining trust online. Verfiable computation without exposing data is a massive leap for privacy and decentralization. The future internet will be built on cryptographic guarantees, not blind trust.

First Principles Ep. 6 with Shafi Goldwasser What if you could prove something is true without revealing why it’s true? Turing Award winner Shafi Goldwasser tells the origin story of zero-knowledge proofs: how a playful question about playing poker securely over the telephone led her, Silvio Micali, and Charles Rackoff to rethink what a mathematical proof could be. Goldwasser traces those ideas through interactive proofs, the sum-check protocol, SNARKs, and the systems now used to verify computation and preserve privacy on blockchains. She also reflects on why breakthrough ideas are often rejected at first, how toy problems can produce foundational theories, and whether AI systems should have to prove their answers. Hosted by Tim Roughgarden with Justin Thaler 00:00 Intro 03:36 How mental poker inspired zero-knowledge proofs: Proving that something is true without revealing the underlying information 06:30 The simulation paradigm and the meaning of “zero knowledge” 08:33 Why the original paper was repeatedly rejected 10:33 How interactive proofs became more powerful than conventional proofs 13:36 The road to modern SNARKs 19:02 Why the sum-check protocol is so useful for verifiable computation 25:31 Why many so-called “zk proofs” are not actually zero knowledge 34:06 Why toy examples, playfulness, and narratives can produce deep theory 37:23 The role of rigor and computational assumptions in cryptography 42:44 Applying zero-knowledge proofs to law, evidence, and secret software 45:23 Training AI systems to provide proofs alongside their answers 54:27 Why genuinely new ideas are often difficult for experts to recognize
