This is a painful watch. Why is Reform standing foreign candidates at all? And why is Nigel Farage MP racialising the argument while completely ignoring the bigger point? It’s not complicated. Only the British people should stand in British elections, and only the British people should be able to vote in them. Why bring skin colour into it? This is classic left-wing tactics, deflecting into a race debate instead of addressing a legitimate concern: the sheer number of foreign candidates being put forward who have no ancestral or cultural connection to this country is mental. Should an Englishman be able to stand in an Indian election? Of course not, and I would expect India to never even entertain that as a possibility. Not being able, or willing, to define what it means to be English is no different to not being able to define what a woman is. And on the wider point, X is a platform for free speech.
