Walter Payton, over the top Nobody did it better October 7, 1979

We know, and it wasn’t the only time.

He could run, catch, throw and jump and does anyone doubt he could tackle if that's what the team needed? I know there's a lot of great candidates out there, but you cannot have the conversation of greatest football player ever without discussing #34.

I remember that game very well I think the bears routed them 7-0

I was there

One of his signature moments captured by the NFL Films 🎥 Bears 🐻 won 7-0

Yeah he was “ the complete “ player .. he had Sayers grace , speed and open field vision . Enough of Browns power, and Smiths durability .. from passing to even special teams . He literally carried the offense for that team till the 84 build

Kevin, I have Marcus Allen up there with Sweetness goal line TD dives too.

Marcus Allen was a master at going over the top, without a doubt. Certainly among the very best. But I never saw him go as high as Walter did here.

GOAT

The greatest!

I was there. Kevin was this 7-O Bears final score?

Only score and PAT of game. Very windy. Believe that was a 7 play 11 yard drive.

Damn! I’ve been looking for this Carly Simon clip for decades. GRAZIE MILLE!

Favorite athlete of all time.

I'd hold off about nobody did it any better 🤷

Walter Payton was the GOAT of Running Backs.

Was at that game... was the only td of the day by either team... ironically one of the most boaring games ever.

Get rid of the music.

They don’t do this anymore

Billy Simms did

Over the Top. Great Movie :)

He's lucky Gary Reasons and Ronnie Lott weren't on defense )

And yet Ditka, doesn't give him ball on the super bowl in the goal line. Ill nwver forgive him

Would much rather see this than the rugby scrum. Ass push

Sweetness

Every ’80s kid did this on their basement couch.

Why don’t running backs do this anymore?

Bring this back. Ban the ass shove

Fact.

He would do that all the time

Steroids at its finest.

I think he had 20 carries for 100 yards!

Nobody does the leap like that anymore
