2. Research Question Notes Notes on specific big questions. Each research question note will have multiple progress notes related to it.

3. Progress Notes Notes containing: Progress/Conclusion/Next-Steps/Plots to help focus your thoughts and insights. Properties to help organize and connect them. Use Dataview to pull all of them together (copy the query from the image description)

Dataview is a plugin that you will use if you are serious about note-taking and use @obsdmd. Here is a tutorial:

4. Reading Lists The best way to structure your reading is to collect your "intent to read" and not just save a paper to Zotero. I call it the detective approach. The result ends up in your project note.

I always suggest using @obsdmd as a digital note-taking tool. It is free, mature, fast and private. For me it is like a google-maps for navigating research. Explore it if you haven't - EffortlessAcademic . com has heaps of free resources to get you started.
