Warner on Fox News Sunday on Navarro's case for tariffs: "He's talking about tariffs in the first Trump administration. He should've looked a little more at history. I think they were called the Smoot-Hawley tariffs in the 1920s. That policy led to the Depression ... it insults the intelligence...

FOX NEWS HOST: You’re saying Trump’s tariff plan could lead to a similar economic collapse? WARNER: I’m saying it’s a reckless, outdated idea that’s been proven to hurt more than it helps. Smoot-Hawley didn’t protect American jobs—it triggered a trade war, crushed exports, and made everything worse. And now, Trump’s running the same play, expecting a different result. FOX NEWS HOST: Navarro argues tariffs will bring back manufacturing jobs lost to countries like Germany, Japan, and Mexico. Isn’t that a goal worth pursuing? WARNER: Sure, if tariffs actually brought those jobs back. But that’s not how this works. Those jobs didn’t just move overseas—they evolved, they got automated, they changed. Navarro can spin all he wants, but you can’t tariff your way into the past. FOX NEWS HOST: So you think this argument insults voters? WARNER: Absolutely. Navarro and Trump are out here telling people that economic pain is just a “temporary adjustment” and they should “trust the process.” But let’s be real—when corporations hike prices, when industries suffer, it won’t be Trump or Navarro paying the price. It’ll be the American worker. They call it “short-term disruption.” I call it deliberate sabotage. And I think Americans are smart enough to see through the scam. FOX NEWS HOST: Navarro insists the first Trump term proved tariffs work. WARNER: And I insist gravity makes things fall. Look, if tariffs had actually worked, Trump wouldn’t need to run on bringing manufacturing back—because it would already be back. But it’s not. So instead, they’re doubling down, pretending history doesn’t exist, and hoping voters won’t notice.

Ignoring economic history to push a failed agenda isn’t just reckless—it’s insulting.

April 2 will be the beginning of the downfall of America Prices will rise, stock market will tank, unemployment will rise as initially not many things will sell, discretionary spending will drop In a few years, some companies will no doubt want to have access to the US market and announce plans to move plants here By then Trump will be gone, there will be new administration, new trade partnerships would have been developed such as Canada Europe People will trust other partners as more reliable than the US Called it.. bookmark it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Only MAGA could look at a policy that helped crash the global economy and think “Let’s run that back”and still expect a different outcome. Insanity doesn’t even cover it

Comparing Trump’s tariffs to Smoot-Hawley is lazy fearmongering. The 2017-2021 tariffs strengthened domestic manufacturing, reshored critical supply chains, and forced China to the negotiating table. Smoot-Hawley was indiscriminate protectionism—Trump’s approach is surgical decoupling from adversaries. China owns 350k+ acres of U.S. farmland, targets critical infrastructure, and steals IP through shell companies. The 2025 America First Investment Policy accelerates allied capital inflows while blocking PRC exploitation. Tariffs aren’t the problem—decades of weak trade deals allowing China to loot American industry are. The real insult? Pretending surrender to globalist scams is “economic wisdom.”

The American people don’t have intelligence. The proof is in the fact that they elected Donald Trump as their president. You can’t get stupider than that.
