Munger: “If you’re into self education, there’s nothing like reading… people who do a lot of it have an enormous advantage.” The full Berkshire meeting: The Munger Q&A:

Reading is the easiest way to level up for sure

The market rewards originality less than it rewards pattern recognition. Most fortunes aren’t built by inventing new ideas. They’re built by recognizing old patterns before everyone else does. History compresses decades of human mistakes into a few hundred pages. Read enough of it, and the future starts looking surprisingly familiar.

Books remain the highest ROI.

This philosophy scales beyond investing. It's how polymaths, scientists, engineers, and builders operate: stand on the shoulders of giants, spot the recurring patterns, and execute with discipline. The real edge, though, still belongs to humans who actively curate, connect, and apply that knowledge with curiosity and judgment. The universe is full of answers hiding in plain sight; most people just don't bother looking deeply enough.
