Was just going through some old Volk stuff and found this gem from when he flew 37 hours to be back up for a title fight. I remember at the time thinking he was nuts, but now it's more just an early example of the guy's ridiculous mindset.

Tom Kim was second group off in the final round of the Cognizant. He said he spent all day thinking about Jupiter Links' TGL match that night. "I woke up at 4:30, so I've been up for almost 20 something hours. But my 18 holes today was preparation for tonight. That's all I focused on. I'm serious, I promise you. "It was a long day, but gosh, the whole round I was just thinking about the match tonight and how it's going to be and how I wanted to play and how the prep was going to go."

I don't think there's a wrestler we took for granted more than Mongo. He just wanted to be there so badly and he loved it so much and he just threw everything he had into it. It's so obvious to look back and see now. It's more infectious decades later than it was at the time.

He had incredible anticipation, incredible quickness, great vision. He was pretty much good at every sport he played at an early age, but you never know for sure. When you’re 7-8 years old, who knows how big, strong, and fast you’re gonna be. A lot of kids mature early. So you just never know, but I will say this, from an early age, from the first time he played sports he was pretty dominant.” Ed also goes into detail about his involvement as a parent of professional athletes in regard to where they go (schools) and questions about contracts

I think this is probably the first time I've seen an adult show so much concern over a child being a Gundam pilot. At first, I found it funny that he was crying because he couldn't believe he lost to a child, but the more I heard him talk, the more I felt what he meant and understood what he was going through. Üso is supposed to be playing with toys, but he's out here in a war, piloting a killing machine and holding a gun in his hand. He's still new to this, but the more he gets involved in war, the crazier it will get for him. I guess I'm back to the classic Universal Century stuff. I have to prepare myself...

Jason Day was asked ahead of The Masters whether he has any empathy for what Tiger Woods is going through and he gave a brilliant answer that a lot of people can probably agree with: “So yeah, in regards to Tiger, it just shows the human element and the human side of someone that is struggling with some sort of an addiction. He's not immune to it just because he can hit a golf ball really well. He's had 25 to 30 something surgeries, and when you're going through that many procedures, it's painful coming out of those procedures. I've had procedures done and I typically try and stay away from all that stuff because I just know that -- painkillers, there can potentially be a downfall to it. “Granted, when I look at that, I look at it and go, he's just a human being like everyone else and we have struggles. It's unfortunate, the only thing that I don't understand is that it's a little bit selfish of him to drive and put other people in harm's way, as well. “But when you're the player that he was and how strong-willed he is, he thinks he can do almost anything, and that's probably why he's probably driving and a little bit under the influence. “He was my hero -- he's my hero. He was my hero growing up. The reason why I play golf is because of this tournament and Tiger. It's hard to see him go through what he's going through, and especially under the microscope that -- it must be hard to be who he is and have everything, everyone look on, kind of down on him. “Some people want him to fail. Some people obviously want him to succeed. It's really difficult for me to go through that and watch him, and I know that he's getting the help now, which is good. A 15 year old boy was hired to shovel part of a driveway for a local business. He spent hours doing it with a shovel. When it was time to pay up, the worker just offered him a plate of food instead of the $100 that they originally agreed upon. It wasn’t until the video was posted on social media and the owner received massive backlash from the community that he spoke out and claimed it was an employee that did it and offered to pay the boy. If this is true, should the person who did it be fired, or is he just saving face at this point?
