Was requested to make a constrained physics (Restrict wheels on Y axis rotation only) setup for a chair 刻矛 MAO 🔆🪱🔆 modeled for Warudo+Vicon. It's literally just Dynamic Bones freeze axis and rotating the bone to force the direction. Do I recommend for characters: Yesn't.

Improving the helper for XMuscle (from K44dev Studio ) Should make it easy to have a muscle that stretches without moving with the bone it's attached to, like the triceps. Also have a muscle contract when rotating a bone in an axis that doesn't make the attachment move (biceps)

Just finished up the wrist! I found that, using 4 bones for each axis of correction and parenting that to a semi-rotating bone works really nicely! The forearm twisting correction is something simple but very effective at reducing the "candy wrapper" effect. #blender #rigging

I made a mechanism that fakes physics when moved, without any cyclic dependencies :) It makes use of a copy transform reference bone that always drives the rotation, and Location/damped track offset bones. It's pretty great for subtle secondary motion! #blender #rig #rigging

Here's an interesting thing i've come up with- Whenever you target the rotation channel for a transformation constraint. It can act weird when another axis is rotated (Due to Quaternions) But if you target the scale of a ref bone like this. It's more stable! #blender #rigging

Physics professor Walter Lewis demonstrating gyroscope precession. A gyroscope is a device used for maintaining or measuring angular velocity and orientation. Precession is a change in the orientation of the rotational axis of a rotating body. The gyroscope effect was discovered in 1817 by Johann Bohnenberger; the gyroscope was invented, and the effect named after it, in 1852 by Léon Foucault for an experiment involving the rotation of the Earth. Foucault's experiment to see the Earth's rotation was unsuccessful due to friction, which effectively limited each trial to 8 to 10 minutes, too short a time to observe significant movement. In the 1860s, however, electric motors made the concept feasible, leading to the first prototype gyrocompasses; the first functional marine gyrocompass was developed between 1905 and 1908 by German inventor Hermann Anschütz-Kaempfe.

I've built a setup in Geometry Nodes to get data from bones, so now I can do things like make Normals from them, and I'm experimenting with much more. The Normal here is basically a cylinder around each bone. So it doesn't work that great around the shoulders, but its great on the arms and legs. Its the same idea as when you do radial/sphere Normals for a face or hair, but for the whole body.

How to Create Rotation With the Back Leg How you want to actually create rotation with the back leg. For me and higher level guys, I don’t even like to think about rotation. If you feel your hips rotating, it’s probably too slow. This is such a violent, explosive movement that happens in milliseconds. You shouldn’t even be able to feel it. That’s why I think about it as a weight shift. When you’re putting force into the ground, into that X direction, most of your weight is on the back leg. Then once you create that impulse and it propels you forward, all you need to think about is getting to the front leg. That force naturally rotates the hips into foot plant. For a lot of higher level guys, this helps a lot. They don’t have to think about rotating the hips. Because that can actually mess things up. Instead, it’s just force into the ground and get to the front leg. The pelvis will rotate on its own.

oh gosh im so dumb! thanks jhey ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ! this is better ngl. in my prev impl i was trying to make the effect using css `translate-z` to create depth, perspective on container, and varied circle sizes. in this implementation, it uses 2D X/Y translation only. no Z-axis for the rings.

A valve spring inside a running engine does more than compress and release. The spring also rotates slowly along its axis with each cycle, and that rotation is intentional. The valve face strikes the same metal seat thousands of times a minute, and without rotation any single contact point would wear down unevenly. By spreading that contact around the full circumference, the rotation evens out heat and mechanical wear so the valve seals cleanly for much longer. White marks painted on the coils make the rotation visible on camera. Without them, the movement would be impossible to see.
