To say the Church was wrong in Her approach to Judaism for 2000 years is a denial of the indefectibility of the Church. The Talmud explicitly blasphemes Our Lord and Our Lady, and it was just for St. Louis IX to burn every copy he could get his hands on.

But Judaism was founded on the rejection of Christ, and for 2,000 years, that's what it has been defined by. How can you say that it's not a uniquely evil culture and that it's just as bad as Buddhists?

Can someone "cancel" you for what you believe? Religious freedom is under pressure, and people are facing lawsuits, job loss, and shame for their beliefs. Concerned? Share your thoughts in the National Survey on Religious Freedom in America—make your voice count. Take the survey!

When Wilhelm Marr coined the term “antisemitism” in 1879, it referred to “scientific” racism or hatred of Jews, essentially biological determinism. This was undoubtedly the consensus understanding of the word by the bishops who approved Nostra aetate, which condemned "antisemitism," at the Second Vatican Council. The term is otherwise undefined by the text itself. Certainly they didn’t have in mind that the ADL, other Jewish organizations, nor individual Jews would be the Church’s official inquisitor for antisemitism. Kommissar would be a more fitting title. The same goes for the individual Catholic kommissars like Trent Horn, who are short on charity but full of calumny for any Catholic that dares to criticize the collective behavior of Jews. Criticism of their collective behavior is completely acceptable when baptism and subsequent moral behavior are entirely redemptive. Until a presumed honest, unforced conversion, Sicut Judaeis prohibited physical violence against Jews, the desecration of Jewish cemeteries, and interference with Jews practicing their religion. In turn, Jews were prohibited from engaging in behavior that subverted or undermined the morality and well-being of the Christian society they resided in.

Defining anti-semitism seems like something that would help a lot in such discussions. Does the Church have a useful one? As you stated, the term can be difficult to work with. I'd be curious to know what others think - @EMichaelJones1

Do you know that the Catholic Church isn't just 'Roman Catholic', there are other 23 Eastern Catholic Churches, also called Oriental Catholic Churches or Eastern Rite Catholic Churches). These are distinct from the Latin/Roman Church in their liturgical rites, traditions, disciplines, and hierarchies, but they share the same faith and are fully united, in full communion with Rome, and are spread across East and West. Different languages. Different vestments. Different liturgical expressions. But the same Creed. The same sacraments. The same Eucharist.
