Radiohead made a passing reference to this on song from OK computer, the head of state wants to talk to me but I don’t have time for that.

I unsure what the point is trying to be made hear, we always knew Labour were trying to look cool to the younger voter and this is just a tactic they used. There is no revelation here.

By 97 Brit pop was already on the way out, it wasn’t an emergent scene, Tony Blair just jumped on the bandwagon.

This is a total non-story. A fairly young Prime Minister tries to harness a cultural movement to enhance his popularity. Not exactly news is it? The Epstein link is really desperate.

Britpop had died by the time he met Blair, so....

Anyone who has seen the film Creation Stories knows this already.

The preceding youth movement was based around illegal raves and there were two high profile MDMA deaths. The government wanted something to push kids back into bars and venues that only served alcohol

Ya typically out of sync politicians noticed britpop was a popular thing and kinda belatedly tried to jump on it's fading bandwagon and tie themselves to it and everyone thought it was sad shit and embarrassing for any bands that played into their PR crap. FFS that's all

That did happen openly. But it was more that politicians latched onto the movement as oppose to it being driven by them. Separately, why was Billy Corgan meeting the Bush people post Iraq invasion? Utter sell out

Britpop was a total media fabrication. Blur were being positioned to be the anti-grunge group. Then the occultist McGee signed Oasis and the media smelled an opportunity for a Beatles/Stones rivalry and ramped up that angle.

Harold Wilson was doing it in the 60s.

That scene didn't need the government to influence it, because it already started as early as 1992 and so they just jumped on it. Damon and Jarvis refused to go to No.10 when Blair got in, with Damon saying that he felt the artists would be taken for a ride by the government.

A dominant handshake typically eclipses an attempt.

This is why for the last 30 years they tried to push black music so hard. Niggers have no honor and are easily controlled, they'll sell their own children for some shiny rims.

One corrals and pacifies the masses with underlying themes of imagination. The other was used to enrage the populace over the current political states. Moby was even approached once, and I read some of his articles online. Correction Corporation of America used to "lobby".

It not that surprising. Political parties are selling a product. They hire consultants who advise them to use cross marketing. Im over pearl clutching about this kind of thing. Its more important to be sufficiently informed than outraged.

Nevermind the strapping yet reptilian Naval Academy Cadets etc , or so they said, crashing punk shows and trying to lure prominent musicians into their Tahoe in the back of the parking lot. Duffy style photo ops? Who knows. Efffff Them!
