The man stepped onto his property, swinging punches, trying to cause harm, and although it was a little bit excessive to shoot the guy, its still self defence as the man with the gun doesn't know how much damage the aggressor can really do.

That is straight up murder. Self defense should always be non-lethal unless defending from a lethal situation. Hot take, but there is a fucking reason gun control needs to be so much more restrictive in the US.

His first few shots, easily self defense in a high stress situation and getting attacked. But to walk over to him after you stopped the threat. After the threat has fell, and mag dump into him. No, that part isn't self defense. So Im sure this turned into a case over those shots.
